Lovely Japanese Inn with excellent service. There's a public onsen which everyone can use and I think all rooms have their own private onsen. Very nice atmosphere and incredibly relaxing. A short walk away from the sights, shops and restaurants of Yufuin. Very recommended.

The rooms were spacious, and private onsen (hot spring bath) was available for free rental. It wasn't far from the train station. The only downside was that check-out time was 10:00 AM. After check-out, both the guest and their luggage had to leave the hotel. There was no luggage storage. Having traveled all over Japan, this was the first time I'd encountered a hotel like this. While the ryokan seemed a bit dated, its cleanliness was excellent, and the view was absolutely stunning. We also appreciated being able to reserve the private open-air bath. The breakfast was delicious, and the staff were incredibly friendly, making our entire trip a wonderful stay!

The kindness of the owner of hotel was not good.

The owner is very nice. It is rare to have public baths and free private baths. The only downside is that the allergy level in the room doubles during the pollen season. I don't know why.

I am satisfied with the overall experience. The hot springs were good and the location was good. The owner was kind. However, you can't stay in the lobby on the first floor after the check-out time. My father, who is not feeling well, was kicked out on a rainy day with three suitcases.

The place is large and the scenery is beautiful. The facilities are decent, and it has some history.

Wonderful view over the valley, this spacious room offers a private onsen. Completely with tatami mats and comfortable beds it’s a very relaxing stopover fur the pretty town of Yulfuin. It’s not the easiest of places to find, tucked away at the end of a small windy road outside of town. There are no eateries nearby, so as the restaurant was closed, we had to stock up on food from the supermarket....

I had an amazing time at Ryokan Yufuin Tsubaki. I booked the half-board stay at Tsubaki using ******* and the staff at Tsubaki was in contact with me almost immediately to confirm the details and finalize the pick up time from Yufuin Station. Note that as a fan of walking, even Tsubaki's location is a bit far from the Yufuin Station so once the staff picks you up at the train station to take you back...

I was very satisfied with this hot spring trip. The hotel is only a 10-minute drive from Kinrin Lake. The breakfast and dinner are very rich and delicious. Food was disappointing for this price point. The onsen area relies on steam to block prying eyes. But this also means there is no outside view for us. The other property we stayed at offered better value, despite having a higher price.
