Hotel Nishimura in Fuji

I’d definitely like to go back to that area but not to this hotel, no. This location could work only if you have a rental car. Otherwise commute will be a bit of a hassle. I was lucky to have Mt Fuji view in my room but rest was depressing. Despite the rules with no shoes - cleaning baggage wheels; room itself felt a bit dusty and not living up to cleanliness level I’d expect from such a place. Breakfast was good and staff was kind.

Overall, I would not stay here again, mainly because of the location. It does have quite many rules (some very eccentric) for a hotel but I appreciate that they stick to their rules and not bend to the western folks. I believe the rules they have stemmed from suffering one too many times of irresponsible guests. If you don't mind the rules, you will not have any issues with this hotel.

Pros: the staffs were kind. You do get a good view of Mt Fuji if you're at the correct side of the hotel (which I was thankfully. They were able to honor my request). You also get a buffet style breakfast which was pretty good. Because this is Japanese style and they make you take off outside shoes, the floors (white carpet) were clean. The shower pressure was good. The bed was comfy.

Cons: it's far from major train stations (JR and shikansen Fuji or shin-fuji station) and you need to take a bus to get to/from train station and the bus only runs from 7 am to 8 pm. Before or after that time, you'll either need to walk (40 min) or call a taxi or have 2 local trains transfer. The shower head of the room I stayed at had a crack which meant the water was spraying everywhere and not in one direction. And lastly the dryer machine was bad. It took 2.5 hours to dry one small load of clothes. It wasn't expensive to run (100 yen for 30 min) but I did not appreciate waiting for 2.5 hours. So beware if you have 1 load of wet clothes, make sure to run two dryers simultaneously if possible or else you'll be waiting forever.
