Positives- low price point, small but welcoming common area for meeting other guests/travelers is conveniently located near the entrance to connect socially and double as a place to eat (minimal cooking facilities present). WIFI was reliable and fast.
Negatives- Self check-in on the tablet didn't work and I had to wait for the attendant to arrive (they were pleasant and helpful but the process shouldn't be painstakingly difficult), hallways were dimly lit and little more than concrete slabs that could be brightened up, and walls in the 4 bed dorm room were damaged and didn’t give the place the best look. Greater attention to the upkeep and standard of the facilities is needed.

There was no security to enter the hostel.
The person who was in the same room as me looked homeless with all the luggage she had and was noisy from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. So I had a very short night; it was very hot, and the bathroom didn't lock, and it was also dirty and dilapidated.

I booked a room around 4 hours before I arrived, on a last minute decision. 3000yen on booking dot com. When I arrived it was easy self service check in. The room was clean enough. It had a really cool vibe to it, in peak travel times it's probably a really fun place to stay.

We stayed in a private room. The digital check in process was a pain, the room was not clean. Left over trash from previous guests and a buildup of disgust in the bathroom and around the room was gross.
Easily could be improved with decent cleaning throughout the facility. I would stay anywhere else.

I arrived here after a long trek. I was welcomed by the friendly staff. There was a great social space down stairs where I met many great people, travellers and locals.
The bathroom was enjoyable being a micro sized shower/bath, really good depth for bathing. Toilet was nice and clean.
I slept very well in the pine scented room.
Really lovely hostel in this hidden gem of a city.

Location is great. It could be cleaner, bathroom wise in my room. There were some issues. Staff is only there sometimes and check-in is automated - if it works. The beds are comfortable though. Within minutes you get a nice view of Mount Fuji, which is great

Guy at check in was very friendly and helpful, bed was clean and comfortable. Toilet/shower is in the room with you, so I was woken by someone having a shower at 3am (god knows why) and I felt too guilty to have a shower at 5.30am when I got up.

Stopped in for lunch in the restaurant. Amazing service and food, the restaurant had a luxurious style and the staff were excellent

Service is impeccable at this hotel, every staff I encountered is absolutely friendly and willing to help. Hotel and rooms are a bit dated, however, well maintained. I am amazed how spotless my room is, kudos to the house keeping staff. There is men's and women's public bath on the first floor, with indoor and outdoor tubs although not very big. Breakfast is good, options including western or Japanese style. One downside is there is no coin laundry on the premise, and neither is there laundromat within walking distance. I ended up needing to use the laundry service which is ok in terms of price.

There is something engaging about the décor. It is clearly a reformed old hot springs hotel, but smoothly blended with South East Asian. Naturally, hotels are more than interior design. So I'm happy to announce that even the western style rooms are spacious and clean, and that the hot springs bath are upgraded and ... hot. The water is mineral rich, with a hint of sulfur. Getting between the rooms and the bath is a little complex, but the journey is worth it. Rooms have individual WiFi networks. Breakfast is a little pricey, but luxurious.
