Nagano, Minamiishidocho-1426 Minaminagano (in the centre) 🧭 Map
Great location just a few minutes walk from the station. The individual cabins themselves were quite spacious. There were a lot of people in one room though, it was about 50 people in one room so it got very noisy during the night.
Near train station and restaurants. Supermarket just downstairs. Common areas makes easy to talk to people and get information.
They have an amazing communal kitchen where you can cook your own meals with fully equipped facilities.
Great value for money! For this price, you really can't ask for much more, right? Highly recommended for solo travelers visiting Nagano.
Really helpful staff, kindly answered any questions around the area and were really attentive. Highly recommend staying here 😃
I was surprised to find that the check-in counter is also a bar. It’s accessible from Nagano Station.

Nagano, Daimon 49 (in the centre) 🧭 Map
This is my first Ryokan and I stayed here because people said it is a must do when visiting Japan. I was hesitant at first because there were some not so stellar reviews. However, the owners are some of the nicest people I have met and researching about ryokans and Japanese culture and etiquette really went a long way in making my experience so much more enjoyable and meaningful. I loved my stay...
This is a Japanese-style inn with an incredibly warm atmosphere. Although you have to climb steep, polished wooden stairs to move your luggage, and the antique interiors make you feel a little afraid to damage them, and all guests share the bathrooms, showers, and hot spring, it's still incredibly cozy. The space is cleverly utilized, with about 20 guest rooms arranged in a charming, staggered pattern...
Great traditional ryokan! Perfect to travel and feel the local culture!
Staff was really nice but wi-fi was not working throughout my whole stay
Excellent location for a quick trip to Zenkoji Temple and a very good bargain. The only issues are the stairs being steeper than most people are likely used to, and the futons can give you a stiff back. The price is nice in that it gives you the ability to try out the Ryokan experience without committing to a heavy price tag.
Fabulous breakfast. Traditional Japanese breakfast. The only drawback was the staircase. Its really steep. And there's no lift. Soundproofing from the street wasn't the best but a beautiful room

Very comfortable, clean, and excellent location. Lots of restaurants around and close to Zenkoji Temple, one of the must visit places in Nagano. Such a great staying.
The walls were thin and I could hear noises and voices from the next room. The air conditioning was ineffective and it was cold even at the maximum setting.
An overnight stay at Park Days is perfect; the hotel is a bit old but comfortable, surrounded by shops and cafes, a 20-minute walk to the station, and a 10-minute walk to the main temple. It's a 5-minute walk to the main street, where all the fun is.
This is the nicest hotel we've ever stayed in Japan. Firstly, the rooms are large and spacious with wooden furniture, and secondly, the staff is very pleasant and friendly, always helpful. We forgot our phone and some other things there. We returned a few days later to get them, and they gave us everything. We'll definitely be back. There's delicious sushi right across from the entrance.
The room was very well furnished. Not the biggest. The hotel is a 5-minute walk from the nearest subway station.
The hotel is close to the famous shrine. There are many dining options in the immediate vicinity. Nagano Station is about a 15-minute walk away.

We stayed one night in winter. The building is a traditional ryokan and very beautiful. We got a big double room and extra blankets and heater to stay warm. We requested vegan food while booking and got a amazing vegan dinner and breakfast. The hosts were super nice and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay. Thanks for having us.
The location is perfect, right next to Togakushi Chusha Shrine. It's just a two-minute walk uphill from the hotel. The landlady gave us a very warm welcome. Even though we were the only three guests that day, the dinner she prepared was absolutely amazing – beautifully presented and delicious. We also had the private hot spring all to ourselves that evening. Overall, it exceeded our expectations.
The ryokan is situated just a few minutes’ walk from Chusha Daimon bus stop and Kuzuryusha Shrine—an ideal location for us as we stayed for two nights and focused on visiting the five shrines and nearby local shops. The ryokan is clean, and the staff are extremely friendly and warm. A few staff members speak basic English, which was helpful. The kaiseki breakfast and dinner were delicious—be sure...
We're from Chiba Prefecture and love Nagano. We have two adults and a 6-year-old (preschooler). We stayed at Togakushi Ski Resort. The warm hospitality, the immaculately cleaned room, and the kotatsu table were a delight! Our kids were thrilled because we don't have a kotatsu at home. The bathroom, toilet, and sink are shared, but they were very clean, the futons were fluffy, and it was a very comfortable...
I was very lucky to get the last room on Saturday. Although the reviews on Trip.com were not high, they were excellent on Google Maps and it was even better than I expected. I would stay here again if I have the chance to visit Togakushi again. Thank you to everyone at the hotel for making my trip very pleasant.
I stayed at this inn for several nights while hiking Mt. Takatsuma. When I arrived, I was captivated by the beautiful exterior and atmosphere of the magnificent gate and thatched roof. When I entered, the old-fashioned entrance, staircase, and rooms were also nice. There is no air conditioning, but for someone who is exposed to air conditioning every day, it's wonderful to be cooled by the natural...

Our experience was great. Service excelente . Food delicious!
Overall was very satisfied with our stay here. A very traditional ryokan. Dinner was delicious and very pleased with the quality of the food served. Dinner was 5/5 rating for me.
Great friendly staff. Great breakfast and dinner. Nearby are many interesting places: museums, temple, zoo. Nadelko from Nagano station, only 20 minutes walk.
Amazing location with great hospitality. One of the most unique experiences of my life.
It was hard because the bedding was laid out in a very old and narrow room and there was nowhere to move. In particular, the hot spring bath was so small that I could smell other people's body odor, and the bath was too small and dirty, so I didn't want to go in. I could barely take a quick shower outside and go around. I felt like the breakfast and dinner were not cost-effective. The food was just...
Stayed 3 nights at this lovely ryokan. It is the first ryokan that I have ever stayed in. Great atmosphere, family-owned and run. Staff were warm and helpful. Our room was cosy and whenever we were due back in the evenings , the aircon was set to 26 Celsius, which seems very common in Japan, but too warm for me. Easily fixed, because each room has its own aircon. We enjoyed breakfast and one...

One of the biggest rooms I've had in Japan in a very good location in nagano. It doesn't even seem that dated based on the reviews as all the amenities are on par with everyone if not better. Rooms are almost soundproof and has a great bed. Great host, would definitely stay again.
The AC is terribly loud which is really annoying because during winter months you can’t sleep without it as it gets quite cold. The room is spacious, amenities are good and coin parking options are available nearby. The bedding style is quite old fashioned, we would have preferred full duvet covers.
Had an amazing stay at that hotel. The guy from the service helped us a lot, without any complaint, the rooms are big and comfy Location is 12 minutes walk from the nagano station Highly recommend this place!
My room was spacious but quite old, the AC was not working properly, the mattress was too hard, I didn't like the blanket, the ground is covered with carpet. The shower was good, hot water and enough strength. The neighbourhood felt not so good but it was really close to a shopping district with many restaurants and easily connected to Nagano Station by foot. A renovation of rooms would probably add...
The hotel is located in a quiet neighbourhood, about 20min walking distance from Nagano Station but close to Gondo Station. The staff was welcoming and friendly. The room was very clean and spacious and I'd definitely choose this hotel again when back in Nagano.
Strange rooms here but it was a little cold during my visit. It was about -12C during my 3 day stay on New Year's.

Incredible stay with Oshi-san. Extremely hospitable, authentic, and beautiful rustic Ryokan. Strongly recommend ordering dinner and breakfast ahead of time. Great experience ❤️
Beautiful 200 years old Ryokan, now owned by the 6th generation of the host's family. We stayed in a twin bedroom which was beautiful. Enjoyed a super delicious Japanese dinner and breakfast. The host was very friendly and accommodating to our every need, he even had boots for us to borrow for the shrine walk through the snow along with a bear bell. Thank you again for the hospitality.
Incredible place with exceptional hospitality, the host provider me with dinner and breakfast at last notice and it was one of the best meals ive had during my trip in japan. The rooms are very cozy with a traditional vibe. Definitely spend at least one night if youre staying in Nagano
The room was a very big traditional style room. With private toilet (no bath or shower) and traditional heater table. The staff is a family who are extremely kind and warm. They speak good english and they serve very nice traditional meals. I recommend to book with breakfast and dinner, as all the restaurants in the zone close around 3 pm. It is placed very close to the path to the main shrine (aprox...
Authentic Ryokan. They prepared for us dinner and breakfast - fresh, traditional, very tastefull Japanese food. We love it. Host was extremely friendly and welcoming. Bathroom and toilets are shared, but very clean. Bus stop is 2 min by foot. We would love to come back.
Everything about my stay was great - from the beautiful traditional Japanese house, delicious feast carefully prepared by the owners, warm and cozy room with a spectacular view of Nagano mountains, to the surrounding nature, snow, and calming atmosphere. Oshi-san (the owner) is the kindest and most welcoming person you can imagine - can't recommend this stay enough!

Really loved my stay here. It felt really authentic and felt like I was experiencing the everyday japanese vacation style. The breakfast was good also and he even gave extra snacks 😅 not suitable for people that doesnt like communal bathe
The location isn’t really far from station. We had a great night staying in this ryokan. Also the breakfast is really good
It would have been nice to have a refrigerator in the room.
Although it was only one night, I was very happy to be able to talk about various things. I felt a sense of familiarity and ease that I couldn't get at a hotel, and the connection with my neighbors made it a wonderful final night of my trip.
This is an extremely cosy place, but I would not dare describe it as luxurious. It is dated and simple, with the most basic amenities. However, I liked it a lot. The best part about this ryokan is its owner, an elderly man. He truly puts his heart and soul into his establishment. He even suggested to give us a ride to the station, however the weather was nice and we decided to walk instead. I'd...
Good hotel, the owner is very hospitable, on the day of departure he took us to the station. We took with breakfast, the breakfast is tasty and filling. The hotel has a very good location. I recommend

The overall style is very Japanese.
It is an BnB style, the landlord himself is running the property. Even we are checked in late , already passed dinner hours, the landlord was kind to making us dinner , considering we are travelling with 2 toddlers , so much appreciated the nice gesture. Of cos you need to pay for the dinner. The property is very traditional Japanese house , rooms are all in tatami set up .
The rooms were incredibly spacious, and each one came with a diesel-burning stove for winter, which was a nice touch. You could open the window and literally touch the snow piled up on the eaves. The whole town was so quiet, and simply enjoying the beautiful scenery here was a real pleasure.
The food was very good. The staff was good. The rooms were clean and tidy. The bathroom and toilets were clean and tidy. Happy with overall experience.

I was concerned about the declining birthrate and the smell of cigarettes. The location is great if you're driving, and Shishimaru Shokudo, a 10-minute walk away, has a great local feel and is open without even having a shop curtain. It was fantastic. The katsudon was delicious and super reasonably priced. I highly recommend it.
The photo shows the field on the riverbank near the hotel. Unfortunately, it was a cold day with light snow.
It feels like a fairly old inn, but the room itself is not too small and I was able to stay comfortably. It is a bit far from Nagano Station, about a 20-25 minute walk.
We stayed for 2 people. The room was spacious. There is Wi-Fi. It's on the front wall. There is a large public bath (hot spring). It is from 17:00 to 21:00, so please be on time. Even if you don't put it in, the room has a unit bath, so it's safe. The whole building is old, but I had the impression that it had been cleaned, so it didn't get dirty. The air conditioner worked fine without worrying...
As soon as I entered the room, I was disgusted by the smell of cigarettes. Can't choose a non-smoking room in this day and age The shower is also a type that mixes hot and cold water by yourself, and it seems like you will get burned many times. The price is cheap in this area, so it would be nice if you could endure that area.

Honestly, don't always trust the negative reviews. This Ryokan was fantastic! It was authentic, and the elderly host was so lovely and attentive. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
This is a truly authentic experience! Cosy, with traditional furniture and bed, whilst still offering very comfortable options it's the best of both worlds. Plus, the view is among the best in town and the breakfast is authentic and charming. It was a beautiful experience to say here and the fact the hosts did not speak English actually added to the experience. I'd be sure to visit again next time...
First of all, the road to the inn is narrow, and there is a sharp slope in front of the inn. Motorcycles can climb safely once they enter the first parking lot and take a detour. Park your car in the first parking lot and feel like walking a little steep slope. The appearance of the inn has a good atmosphere! The interior is dated No bath/toilet in the room There was a small TV and a small unplugged...
It takes less than 10 minutes from the Zenkoji west bus stop, and at the end, we climb a fairly steep slope to reach it. There is a feeling of mountain and it is good. Simple and rustic service and room. Water was flowing vigorously in the gutter without a lid, and after 19:00, I walked carefully under the sparse streetlights.
Traditional Japanese Inn with 160 years of history.
