Shimoda Prince Hotel

Chubu region, Shimoda, 1547-1 Shirahama 🧭

The environment is great, and it's a sea view room. The sea is very blue and clean.

This is a great resort! Our room faced the ocean, and it had a large public bath for soaking. We specifically booked the dinner and breakfast package, and the restaurant service was excellent. It's also very photogenic.

The room was spacious and quiet. The front desk staff spoke Japanese and English and were very friendly. The view was also great, with the ocean right outside the window. You could hear the sound of the waves with the window open, but it was well soundproofed when closed. It had two beds and a large tatami mat, which could fit two people, making it a room for four in total. There's free parking, and...

Friendly staff. Perfect to go with children, there is a play room :)

The sea-view room exceeded expectations, though the Indian-origin staff was a slight concern. Overall, it was still very good, but the price was a bit high. The service was excellent, but dinner wasn't very good and cost 180. The free hot spring was great.

Nice private beach with rooms facing the ocean! Big breakfast buffet. It’s a surfer’s spot!

Hotel Izukyu

Chubu region, Shimoda, 2732-7 Shirahama 🧭

This hotel is Old styled but clean and spacious. It provides very hearty and delicious dinner and breakfast. I Strongly recommended for those on budget. It is also close to shirohama beach.

The hotel's bonus is that it offers a shuttle service from Shimoda Station after 2:00 PM and a shuttle service from Shimoda Station after 8:30 AM. It's also a two-minute walk to Shirahama Beach, and there's a 7-11 across the street, making it convenient. The facilities are average. The room is indeed old. Few beach hotels in Japan have screens, so turning on the lights and opening the windows lets...

Wonderful trip, tho the location ain’t so convenient but the staffs provided sufficient helps.

A bit old but with good ocean view

1) Nice sea view 2) Near the places of interest that we wanted to visit 3) outdoor hot spring is good except can not see the sea view

The location is right in front of the beach and it is the perfect place to stay if u are going to the Shirahama beach. Cleanliness is perfect too but I gave it 4/5 because the rooms are not soundproof. We can hear the footstep from the corridor and above room. The service is perfect too. There is a shuttle bus for the hotel and they let us in from 2:30pm although the actual check in time is 3pm. The...

Shimoda View Hotel

Chubu region, Shimoda, Kakizaki 633 🧭

Has a very good 1night stay. Wish we could extend. Dinner n breakfast was so good. Many varieties n good food. Service by our waiter was perfect 👌. Enjoyed the open bath. Facilities was good. Would definitely recommend to friends. Keep it up.

Our ocean-facing room had a great view, and we were able to reserve a Japanese-Western style room, so our family of four was able to stay comfortably. We were also able to use the bath from 5am, and coffee was available in the lounge from 6am, but it was delicious.

There were no inbound tourists and we had a very quiet holiday. The food was also delicious, so I would definitely like to come back again.

Breakfast was crowded. There was an issue with my reservation not being reflected when I made it (a system issue on Trip.com's side), but they handled it with sincerity.

The overall environment is nice, with a sea view. However, since it's off-season, some bar singers aren't working. Driving here is a good option, but taking the bus is inconvenient, with buses running every hour. I didn't realize when booking that the room was for one person only. When checking out, because we were two people, the hotel asked me to pay an additional 800 RMB. They didn't mention the...

The dinners offered on the two days were different—one day a buffet and the other a kaiseki meal—it was nice to have variety! The view from the bath on the left was fantastic! Free washing machines and dryers were provided, but laundry balls cost 200 yen.

Kurofune Hotel

Chubu region, Shimoda, 3-8 Kakisaki 🧭

The rooms were spacious, clean, and tidy, with balconies offering stunning sea views of the black ships. Transportation was convenient, very close to Shimoda Station, less than a ten-minute walk. There was free parking at the pier across the street. The Japanese-style breakfast and dinner were excellent. The onsen (hot spring bath) was wonderful. However, being so close to nature, a huge centipede...

The hotel is 850m away from the train station, it has an Onsen that’s very good, the rooms are big and nice but they have a strange smell.

The hotel is conveniently located near the station and a tourist center where you can rent bicycles. The views from the room are beautiful; it's nice to watch the sunrise and sunset on the sofa, admiring the ocean and port. The hotel itself is quite dated, stuffy, and has a musty smell. While not everything is clean, the bed and bathroom with shower are clean and comfortable. The onsen is decent. The...

It's pretty good, hahaha! Facilities: Not bad Cleanliness: Good Environment: Pleasant Service: Excellent Diving is really great, hahaha! Everyone should try it! Hahahaha!

Sure, sure. I read some reviews saying it was old and worn out, but it's actually not bad. The main thing is that it's clean. I absolutely love the view from the window; I sat at the tea table all afternoon watching the sea and the black ship. What I like most is actually the room's lighting—there are plenty of lights, and I really like rooms that are brightly lit.

Good, the staff is very enthusiastic, maybe they went to the countryside, I hope the hotel will prosper in the future and update the facilities

Shimoda Yamatokan

Chubu region, Shimoda, 2048 Kisami 🧭

This place is a gem! Onsen with an ocean view was great, beach is perfectly swimmable, food was amazing! Really loved the place: traditionally-styled ryokan room, locks are cool (weird to put it in review but using them was a pleasure! lol). Everything else is well-maintained. Loved the hotel, I think it'll be much better this way rather than being upgraded with modern digital toys like keycards etc...

Wonderfully located hotel with kind staff. We were greeted at the reception and treated with local sweets while waiting for check in. The hotel is a great place if you do surfing. The dinners and breakfast were extremely delicious. There are 2 onsens, western style and Japanese style, both are great (the only disturbing thing was a noisy filter in the western onsen’s jacuzzi). However, the biggest...

Not modernised but fantastic experience in a ryokan. Has onsite indoor and open air onsen. Large rooms too. Direct beach access is a boon too!!! We chose half board dinner and breakfast. Pool was shut but footbath overlooking the beach is nice next to the pool Nearby there is fermenco which is great italian sourdough however by car not walking.

Had the most incredible solo stay at Shimoda Yamatokan! The hotel is amazing, the staff are so helpful and kind, and the beachfront view and access could not be better. The onsens were incredible and I had the most relaxing 3 nights. My room had a gorgeous beach view and was very spacious. This was a great place to solo travel, and I can’t wait to come back here with my partner! I purchased the meal...

Directly at a nice beach with a great view over it. Very spacey room, with hot bath on your own balcony/terrace. The service was outstanding starting from when we parked. And the reception paperwork was the nicest one I ever experienced: we were seated with tea and a small sweet dish while the paperwork was done.

This hotel exceeded all my expectations! From the cleanliness and comfort of the room to the incredibly friendly and helpful staff, everything was top-notch. The breakfasts were simply magnificent, and the dinners were a true culinary delight. The stunning view from the window was the perfect complement to my stay. I highly recommend this hotel—it's the perfect place for an unforgettable vacation!

Shimoda Itoen Hotel Hanamisaki

Chubu region, Shimoda, 6-12, Takegahama 🧭

The room was clean, but there was no private bathroom; you had to go to the public bathhouse. You can borrow bicycles for free. There aren't many restaurants nearby. The hotel price was very attractive, offering great value for money.

I booked an ocean view room, but I was on the first floor and could only see trees. I couldn't see the ocean at all. It's a scam. When I checked with the front desk at checkout, they told me that the instructions on their website didn't specify an ocean view. Trip.com, what's going on? I wish they would coordinate properly. It was my first trip to Shimoda, and I was planning to relax and enjoy the...

The hotel is fantastic; the lobby offers stunning ocean views. The package includes two meals: dinner is kaiseki cuisine, and breakfast is also excellent, with a wide variety of delicious options. They even have dan dan noodles for late-night snacks. The hotel is very close to Mt. Omuro, right at the foot of the mountain and near the train station. Pick-up service is available before 4:30 PM, and drop...

The hotel's name on Ctrip is completely different from its actual name. It's called Shimoda Itoen Hotel Misaki. From Izukyu Shimoda Station, you can take bus S05, S31, or S32 (towards Shirahama Coast) from bus stop 9 to Takegahama Station – much more convenient than walking with your luggage for 10 minutes. At check-in, we paid 130 yen per person for the onsen (hot spring) fee. There's a yukata corner...

The room had old-fashioned Japanese tatami mats, which were a bit worn, and the corners and edges weren't very clean. Most of the guests staying on weekends were Japanese people coming to soak in the hot springs. The seaside location was decent, and transportation was fairly convenient. For breakfast, there was a fish market set meal across the street, and a little further on, a pretty good sushi restaurant

The hotel is about a 10-minute walk from Izukyu Shimoda Station, in a beautiful surrounding area. Free bicycle service is available in the lobby. The buffet food for the two-meal-per-night stay is just average, but the complimentary drinks are a plus. The Japanese-style rooms are quite large with nice views, but the rooms are a bit dirty, perhaps due to the older decor. Overall, the price-performance...

Shimoda Kaihin Hotel

Chubu region, Shimoda, 3-26-7 🧭

Beautiful area ! The staff was amazing and very friendly !! Highly recommend coming here because the walking area is sooo beautiful and there’s an aquarium near by! The water is clear and surprisingly warm in April!

I stayed one night in this place, the staff was very friendly and despite I don’t speak Japanese, they have translation device to help you. They explained me very well all the amenities that you can enjoy there. (Public bath, arcades, ping pong tables…) Nice room, clean with beautiful view on the sea. Thank you for your welcome,

It's a very, very old hotel! But it's clean and hygienic. I didn't see any cockroaches, which some reviews mentioned and scared me all night. I really liked the surrounding environment; it was great! Very quiet!

There were cockroaches, all kinds of cockroaches. Large cockroaches scurried around the room, medium-sized ones lay on the floor of the game room, and small ones burrowed into the tatami mats. Actually, the small cockroaches weren't scary, but what was annoying was that they might crawl into your luggage and then follow you home. That was quite irritating. Otherwise, everything was fine. The hotel...

We enjoyed table tennis and karaoke. It was a 1-hour event, but since it was a weekday, there weren't many people there, so we extended the time and had fun. The microphone in the small karaoke room was not working well and sometimes had a lot of echo, so I think it needs to be replaced. I'll visit again if I have the chance.

An old hot spring hotel on a very small and quiet beach. Dinner is a buffet for 1 hour and 30 minutes, including delicious draft beer. A variety of alcoholic beverages are included in the accommodation fee. The food is poor, but it is good to check in before 4:30 to add a special dish. There is a large bath and breakfast is good. I wonder if there is a more cost-effective accommodation in Japan.

Shimoda Ocean Park Hotel

Chubu region, Shimoda, Kakizaki 6-27 🧭

The environment is good, located by the bay, along the road to the seaside park, a 15-20 minute walk from the station (flat, but one section of the road is difficult to walk on: there are almost no sidewalks). The front desk service is good, attentive and responsible. The restaurant is run by Vietnamese girls. (The Ctrip agent placed my order for 11:30 PM check-in. The hotel searched everywhere for...

There is a bus stop in front of the hotel, which is very convenient for going to Shirahama Beach and Tsumekizaki. The food was mainly fish and fresh, but the miso soup was a little salty and the drinks seemed a little pricey. The room had a calming, old-fashioned atmosphere, but the lighting was a little dim. I think it would be more comfortable if the air conditioning and the hot water in the bathroom...

The staff were very kind and we had a relaxing time. Also, all the food was delicious and the kids were very satisfied. I'd love to stay here again!

The room was surprisingly large in Japan, probably because it's a Japanese-style tatami room, with room for multiple tatami mats. Room: Spacious enough, the floor-to-ceiling windows offer views of the ocean and park, a real plus. The door opens with a key, and if it's unlocked, it can be opened from the outside, so be mindful of safety. Access: Near the Kaiyu Park-mae bus stop, but the bus only runs...

Hotel YAMADAYA

Chubu region, Shimoda, Kakisaki 40-61 🧭

I stayed during the Obon holidays, so it cost almost 40,000 yen per night, but the room was very clean and I was able to use the family bath for free, which was great. I only stayed overnight, so I don't know about the food, but you can't leave the hotel after midnight. I think it's a good hotel if you can stay for around 20,000 yen.

We had a wonderful stay here, the staff went above and beyond for us, even driving us to the train station before the scheduled time instead of calling us a taxi. Nice and quiet place to unwind after sight seeing, nice public and private onsen's, they allowed me to cover up my one tattoo to use the public onsen. The location views are amazing, the only struggle was getting to and from the train station...

Lovely real ryokan with comfortable tatami rooms with sea views and a great onsen overlooking the bay. Dinner was a non-stop selection of delicious traditional dishes.

We loved this wonderful family run ryokan in unspoilt Shimoda. Its retro cool feel is luxurious but understated. Authentic and delicious fresh food was abundant and beautifully presented. We enjoyed the spacious, clean rooms that catered to all needs and the beautiful view over the harbour. There was a lovely onsen to relax in and really fun vintage video game parlour for the kids. Staff are welcoming...

Chose this traditional Japanese inn based on the photos of the food and absolutely not disappointed. They staff was very patience with our lack of Japanese but we had a Japanese friend join us and he helped translate. If you don't speak Japanese definitely have a translation app handy. The dinner and breakfast were very traditional and delishious. Both meals were huge and bursting with flavor. The...

Beautiful food, ocean view, onsen and service. Been to many Ryokans but the food here is a work of art. Staff is extremely kind and professional.

LiVEMAX RESORT Izu Shimoda

Chubu region, Shimoda, 711-3 Touji 🧭

Room is decent, nice round tub in room with sea view (305). Dinner buffet has a variety of food but most dishes are not up to par. Breakfast buffet was better. Pool was drained in winter but not covered, so there is a layer of stagnant water and debris at the bottom. No lifts in the hotel.

This hotel was below what I would have expected it to be. It was “ok”, and had few accommodations. The wallpaper in the room was peeling off and the can of bug spray on display at the door told me everything I needed to know. Breakfast was way overpriced for what was available. Parking is very limited. WiFi worked the first night and was out the rest of my stay.

I was surprised to find that the area under my bed was flooded.

Great place to stay. Good for kids. The rooms are not perfect. The hotel is a little old. But the service is superb and the food is very good too. I had a great time. And will be coming back.

This is my first time at this hotel. The hotel itself is not new. It looks like it has been renovated, but everything works very well, the staff, most of them are foreigners and all very polite, the food is very good and there is lots of fruit and plenty, I have nothing to complain about, the cost-benefit is great! I intend to come back more often.

Access to hotel lobby is very unpleasant, no direct access from carpark and the walk way is only stairs, no lift or even ramps to roll luggage

Hotel Sea Shell

Chubu region, Shimoda, Shirahama 1755 Shimoda 🧭

It's great! Spacious, clean, and has a resort feel. The breakfast is super delicious.

The hotel is very beautiful and clean. The food is exceptionally good (if you can get any) and beautifully presented. The staff is very friendly. My only complaint is this: I expect to be able to eat at a hotel with a restaurant. On the afternoon of our arrival, we inquired about dinner. We were then informed that dinner had to be ordered the day before (!!). We did this for the second day. Unfortunately...

Very nice hotel; we had a great room with a sea view and lots of windows. Breakfast was good, but we would have liked to have the Japanese breakfast, which wasn't available. We couldn't eat dinner without a reservation.

We had a great experience at the Hotel Sea Shell. The views from this hotel are incredible and made for a relaxing experience. The standout feature from our stay was the hospitality and food at the hotel. We felt cared for throughout our trip. This is an excellent choice for those looking for a beach getaway to Shimoda!

Beautiful and well-designed hotel with Japanese ryokan vibes. The staff are friendly, the view is good and the food is great. Watch out for the mosquitos in though.

Ogawa Ryokan

Chubu region, Shimoda, 6-7 Takegahama, 415-0015 Simoda, Prefektura Sidzuoka, Yaponiya 🧭

It's very close to the fish market, and it's about a 10-minute walk to the shuttle bus stop if you're going diving. The room is super mini but you can sleep in it!

If you're going to Shimoda alone, it's definitely a good choice. It's less than a 10-minute walk to Shimoda Station, and Shimoda Square is right next door.

We were able to reserve the large public bath exclusively, and the room was very clean and nice!!

This hotel is relatively small in this area, but it's relatively new. However, there are a lot of stairs to climb, and even luggage needs to be carried up and down the stairs. This is unacceptable for ordinary people, especially tourists. To be honest, there are very few things provided, and you have to run up and down the stairs. How is the service for a day tourist? This is a very honest and comprehensive...

The sign is not obvious and easy to miss! There are 2 private baths, first come, first served.

🚪【Exquisite Space】Small but perfectly formed! Each capsule is thoughtfully designed, featuring a built-in smart panel to adjust lighting, air conditioning, and alarm clock. It even has its own power outlet and folding table!
