Hotel Sea Shell in Shimoda

The hotel is very beautiful and clean. The food is exceptionally good (if you can get any) and beautifully presented. The staff is very friendly. My only complaint is this: I expect to be able to eat at a hotel with a restaurant. On the afternoon of our arrival, we inquired about dinner. We were then informed that dinner had to be ordered the day before (!!). We did this for the second day. Unfortunately, this information wasn't communicated, and so there was no dinner on the second evening either. On the third day, it worked out. The food was outstanding, beautifully presented, an absolute sensation. After dinner, we immediately booked dinner again for our fourth and final evening. However, we were then unfortunately informed that this wasn't possible due to staff shortages!! In my opinion, this is unacceptable. A hotel must be able to offer its guests dinner, even without a pre-order, even if it's just something simple. I understand that I have to pre-order a dinner like the one we had on the third evening. But no option at all, that's unacceptable.
