The environment is great, and it's a sea view room. The sea is very blue and clean.
This is a great resort! Our room faced the ocean, and it had a large public bath for soaking. We specifically booked the dinner and breakfast package, and the restaurant service was excellent. It's also very photogenic.
The room was spacious and quiet. The front desk staff spoke Japanese and English and were very friendly. The view was also great, with the ocean right outside the window. You could hear the sound of the waves with the window open, but it was well soundproofed when closed. It had two beds and a large tatami mat, which could fit two people, making it a room for four in total. There's free parking, and...
Friendly staff. Perfect to go with children, there is a play room :)
The sea-view room exceeded expectations, though the Indian-origin staff was a slight concern. Overall, it was still very good, but the price was a bit high. The service was excellent, but dinner wasn't very good and cost 180. The free hot spring was great.
Nice private beach with rooms facing the ocean! Big breakfast buffet. It’s a surfer’s spot!

It was an amazing decision to stay at Shimoda hotel. The location is good. We arrived easily. The room is spacious and the beds are comfortable too! Not to mention the dinner that we reserved was very interesting and a spectacle! We were quite lucky because there was fireworks in the area so we saw them from the restaurant in the hotel. I'd say the breakfast is also very worthwhile since there is a...
It was a great experience. The room has a very beautiful view of the sea, it's a real fantasy. And it will take very little time to walk from the hotel to the sea - about 10 minutes. I also really liked the onsen. I would like to note the convenience of shuttles - they run frequently and do not need to be booked in advance. The rooms were very clean. The overall impression is wonderful.
Beautiful ocean view from the room. The room is clean and spacious. The location is on uphill. Can’t imagine walking uphill without car. Plenty of parking lots. Nice and relaxing holiday!
The hotel's a bit far out, but the shuttle service makes it super convenient, and it's great value for money! The breakfast was delicious and plentiful, and I even managed to catch a yoga class, which was a fantastic experience!
The room was great. We booked with our child, so the hotel had an extra bed prepared in advance. The hotel's location offers beautiful views, overlooking the stunning Koda Beach, but it requires hiking up and down hills to get there. If you don't book dinner at the hotel, it can be a bit inconvenient as the nearest convenience store is quite far and also involves uphill/downhill travel. The path to...
The hotel's environment and facilities truly exceeded expectations. The beautiful scenery was captivating, there's a pool, and a small beach is nearby at the foot of the hill. Both dinner and breakfast were plentiful. I'd love to stay here for a few more days next time.

Has a very good 1night stay. Wish we could extend. Dinner n breakfast was so good. Many varieties n good food. Service by our waiter was perfect 👌. Enjoyed the open bath. Facilities was good. Would definitely recommend to friends. Keep it up.
Our ocean-facing room had a great view, and we were able to reserve a Japanese-Western style room, so our family of four was able to stay comfortably. We were also able to use the bath from 5am, and coffee was available in the lounge from 6am, but it was delicious.
There were no inbound tourists and we had a very quiet holiday. The food was also delicious, so I would definitely like to come back again.
Breakfast was crowded. There was an issue with my reservation not being reflected when I made it (a system issue on Trip.com's side), but they handled it with sincerity.
The overall environment is nice, with a sea view. However, since it's off-season, some bar singers aren't working. Driving here is a good option, but taking the bus is inconvenient, with buses running every hour. I didn't realize when booking that the room was for one person only. When checking out, because we were two people, the hotel asked me to pay an additional 800 RMB. They didn't mention the...
The dinners offered on the two days were different—one day a buffet and the other a kaiseki meal—it was nice to have variety! The view from the bath on the left was fantastic! Free washing machines and dryers were provided, but laundry balls cost 200 yen.

This hotel is Old styled but clean and spacious. It provides very hearty and delicious dinner and breakfast. I Strongly recommended for those on budget. It is also close to shirohama beach.
The hotel's bonus is that it offers a shuttle service from Shimoda Station after 2:00 PM and a shuttle service from Shimoda Station after 8:30 AM. It's also a two-minute walk to Shirahama Beach, and there's a 7-11 across the street, making it convenient. The facilities are average. The room is indeed old. Few beach hotels in Japan have screens, so turning on the lights and opening the windows lets...
Wonderful trip, tho the location ain’t so convenient but the staffs provided sufficient helps.
A bit old but with good ocean view
1) Nice sea view 2) Near the places of interest that we wanted to visit 3) outdoor hot spring is good except can not see the sea view
The location is right in front of the beach and it is the perfect place to stay if u are going to the Shirahama beach. Cleanliness is perfect too but I gave it 4/5 because the rooms are not soundproof. We can hear the footstep from the corridor and above room. The service is perfect too. There is a shuttle bus for the hotel and they let us in from 2:30pm although the actual check in time is 3pm. The...

The rooms were spacious, clean, and tidy, with balconies offering stunning sea views of the black ships. Transportation was convenient, very close to Shimoda Station, less than a ten-minute walk. There was free parking at the pier across the street. The Japanese-style breakfast and dinner were excellent. The onsen (hot spring bath) was wonderful. However, being so close to nature, a huge centipede...
The hotel is 850m away from the train station, it has an Onsen that’s very good, the rooms are big and nice but they have a strange smell.
The hotel is conveniently located near the station and a tourist center where you can rent bicycles. The views from the room are beautiful; it's nice to watch the sunrise and sunset on the sofa, admiring the ocean and port. The hotel itself is quite dated, stuffy, and has a musty smell. While not everything is clean, the bed and bathroom with shower are clean and comfortable. The onsen is decent. The...
It's pretty good, hahaha! Facilities: Not bad Cleanliness: Good Environment: Pleasant Service: Excellent Diving is really great, hahaha! Everyone should try it! Hahahaha!
Sure, sure. I read some reviews saying it was old and worn out, but it's actually not bad. The main thing is that it's clean. I absolutely love the view from the window; I sat at the tea table all afternoon watching the sea and the black ship. What I like most is actually the room's lighting—there are plenty of lights, and I really like rooms that are brightly lit.
Good, the staff is very enthusiastic, maybe they went to the countryside, I hope the hotel will prosper in the future and update the facilities

The breakfasts were simply magnificent, and the dinners were a true culinary delight. The stunning view from the window was the perfect complement to my stay. I highly recommend this hotel—it's the perfect place for an unforgettable vacation!
The dinner was amazing, the room was large, the bay view was unobstructed, and it was a 2-minute walk to the beach
This hotel is located far away. But we do not regret that we went. It is a little old inside, but the rooms are spacious and cozy. The view of the ocean is gorgeous. Dinner is delicious, breakfast is an acquired taste. The transfer was waiting at the station.
There were no waves on this trip, but the location and the beautiful sea were soothing 😆 The smiles of the staff were also soothing 🤭
The nearby scenery is very beautiful, close to the sea, you can watch the sunrise in the morning, definitely worth recommending 👍👍

Super nice area was very nice Staff they spoke English. Hot onsen was lovely. Most importantly, it was very quiet and relaxing.
She wanted a proper ryokan experience, so after some searching, we found one that felt right—well-kept, understated, and quietly confident. We arrived just before 5pm and were met at the car park by a gentleman who greeted us by name and carried our luggage in. Inside, we were welcomed by Na (I hope I got that right), who walked us through everything—the onsen, breakfast, the rhythm of the place...
Old facility but you have privacy.
The room was great, the breakfast and dinner were good, and it was quiet at night. It was a good value for money. It was conveniently located near Shimoda Station, and a shuttle bus was available upon call. It's a Japanese-style onsen hotel.
The overall service is meticulous, the hotel is small and beautiful, the experience is very good, the hot springs and meals are a plus
There is a hot spring in the large bathhouse, and the rooms also have private baths. The rooms are very large, there are three, and the open-air private bath is in the courtyard. It is very comfortable to soak in the private bath while looking at the courtyard. The service is also very good. There are no disadvantages except that it is a bit expensive.

I stayed during the Obon holidays, so it cost almost 40,000 yen per night, but the room was very clean and I was able to use the family bath for free, which was great. I only stayed overnight, so I don't know about the food, but you can't leave the hotel after midnight. I think it's a good hotel if you can stay for around 20,000 yen.
We loved this wonderful family run ryokan in unspoilt Shimoda. Its retro cool feel is luxurious but understated. Authentic and delicious fresh food was abundant and beautifully presented. We enjoyed the spacious, clean rooms that catered to all needs and the beautiful view over the harbour. There was a lovely onsen to relax in and really fun vintage video game parlour for the kids. Staff are welcoming...
Of course, the meat and fish in the morning and evening were delicious, and it was more delicious than the meat and fish because it took a lot of time to use the vegetables. Mr. Nakai was a foreigner, but he was attentive, friendly and comfortable to eat. However, it would be smoother if you had a doorbell or chime to get dessert or tea. I wish I could see the view from the room from the open-air bath...
I used it at Kawazu Sakura Tour. It is located on a hill on the way to Tsumekizaki near Shimoda Port. If the parking lot is full, do I have to park at the bottom of the hill? Very beautiful. Not far from Hejin.
Traditional ryokan located away from town centre. Nice onsen facilities coupled with Good services. Hotel provides free shuttle service to the train station at check out.
The service was very good and the place is amazing. Nevertheless they didn’t allow us to have dinner or breakfast in the hotel as they said it was fully booked, and when requested for late check in we were asked to pay more. It would have been expected to be able to at least check in a bit later since we couldn’t enjoy the dinner or breakfast in the hotel and was inconvenient.

I was surprised to find that the area under my bed was flooded.
Access to hotel lobby is very unpleasant, no direct access from carpark and the walk way is only stairs, no lift or even ramps to roll luggage
This is my favorite hotel in Shimoda. Every room has an open-air bath, and the dinner and breakfast are delicious. Although many of the staff are foreigners, they provide the best hospitality. I don't really recommend this hotel...because I'd be in trouble if it was fully booked 😂😂😂 I'd definitely like to stay here again 🙌🙌🙌

There is a bus stop in front of the hotel, which is very convenient for going to Shirahama Beach and Tsumekizaki. I booked an ocean view room, but I was on the first floor and could only see trees. I couldn't see the ocean at all. It's a scam. From Izukyu Shimoda Station, you can take bus S05, S31, or S32 (towards Shirahama Coast) from bus stop 9 to Takegahama Station – much more convenient than walking with your luggage for 10 minutes. At check-in, we paid 130 yen per person for the onsen (hot spring) fee. There's a yukata corner...
The room had old-fashioned Japanese tatami mats, which were a bit worn, and the corners and edges weren't very clean. Most of the guests staying on weekends were Japanese people coming to soak in the hot springs. The seaside location was decent, and transportation was fairly convenient. This hotel is relatively small in this area, but it's relatively new. However, there are a lot of stairs to climb, and even luggage needs to be carried up and down the stairs. It's a very, very old hotel! But it's clean and hygienic. I didn't see any cockroaches, which some reviews mentioned and scared me all night. I really liked the surrounding environment; it was great! Very quiet!
There were cockroaches, all kinds of cockroaches. Large cockroaches scurried around the room, medium-sized ones lay on the floor of the game room, and small ones burrowed into the tatami mats. Actually, the small cockroaches weren't scary, but what was annoying was that they might crawl into your luggage and then follow you home. That was quite irritating. Otherwise, everything was fine. The hotel...
We enjoyed table tennis and karaoke. It was a 1-hour event, but since it was a weekday, there weren't many people there, so we extended the time and had fun. The microphone in the small karaoke room was not working well and sometimes had a lot of echo, so I think it needs to be replaced. I'll visit again if I have the chance.
An old hot spring hotel on a very small and quiet beach. Dinner is a buffet for 1 hour and 30 minutes, including delicious draft beer. A variety of alcoholic beverages are included in the accommodation fee. The food is poor, but it is good to check in before 4:30 to add a special dish. There is a large bath and breakfast is good. I wonder if there is a more cost-effective accommodation in Japan.
Very good, food and accommodation are very satisfactory.
