Hotel Izukyu in Shimoda

This hotel is Old styled but clean and spacious. It provides very hearty and delicious dinner and breakfast. I Strongly recommended for those on budget. It is also close to shirohama beach.

The hotel's bonus is that it offers a shuttle service from Shimoda Station after 2:00 PM and a shuttle service from Shimoda Station after 8:30 AM. It's also a two-minute walk to Shirahama Beach, and there's a 7-11 across the street, making it convenient.

The facilities are average. The room is indeed old. Few beach hotels in Japan have screens, so turning on the lights and opening the windows lets in flies. The bedding is also not very clean, it itches where it touches your skin. It's not the soft, fluffy, clean Japanese-style blankets. The lobby is also incredibly bare 🙂↔️ I've stayed at several hotels in Izu, but this is the only one that offers the same price for a single person and a couple. At 800 yen per night for one person in Shimoda during the off-season, not including breakfast and dinner, it's a bit of a steal.

The washer and dryer looked grimy, but they were cheap. Washing clothes cost 200 yen, and drying clothes 100 yen. Lightweight clothes dried quickly by hanging them on a chair overnight.

The front desk lady spoke Chinese, and the overall information was quite comprehensive. If you want to add a meal, you must order dinner before 16:00. There are two sets of meals: 4000 yen and 5000 yen.

Wonderful trip, tho the location ain’t so convenient but the staffs provided sufficient helps.

I went on a family trip. Everyone at the hotel was polite and the hospitality was great. Do you want to take a photo? Unfortunately, it was raining when I got home, but I was impressed that he accompanied me with an umbrella. The hot springs and open-air baths were spacious and comfortable. I have had a great time on my trip so far. I want to go again if I have the chance.

Corona measures were also solid and the staff's response was pleasant. I saw Orion from the open-air bath and slowly relaxed. Above all, the view from the room was breathtaking and that was the best.

The guide staff leading to the dining room and the people inside the establishment are also kind and provide the necessary customer service. I felt comfortable without being rude. When I was forced to move in front of a customer, I was greeted with a nice smile and I can tell that the young staff are well educated. The lady cleaning the bath said that the open air bath is quiet and recommended and I felt that the staff at all levels of the hotel were kind and wanted to entertain the guests... I definitely want to go again. This hotel made me fall in love with Shimoda

Good hotel

The location is right in front of the beach and it is the perfect place to stay if u are going to the Shirahama beach.
Cleanliness is perfect too but I gave it 4/5 because the rooms are not soundproof. We can hear the footstep from the corridor and above room.
The service is perfect too. There is a shuttle bus for the hotel and they let us in from 2:30pm although the actual check in time is 3pm.
The staff will wait for u at the front door to give you towel when you come back from the beach.
As for the amenities, they have massage services (need additional cost), pool, onsen and etc. But we didn’t use most of the, so don’t know about their quality. So I gave it 4/5.
