As a solo traveller, I had a very spacious room to myself. The air-con was set to a warm 27⁰C and I moved the futon nearer to the heater. Food was outstanding though it was vegan. We had dinner and breakfast. They provided the famous Koyasan's tofu. The bath was in a shared area, but as there were only a few travellers, I had the onsen bath to myself.
This place is located near the other end of Ofukuin, It took me 30 minutes to walk through the cemetery to its main temple the Masoleum of Kobo Daishi. It's also a 20 min walk to the Garan complex.
There is about an hour of morning ceremony performed by the monks to attend and an intro to the temple's relics. Overall a good place to stay and offers a quiet sanctuary to think if necessary. Hey, you prefer, you can talk to the monks too. There's always a translator app.

Room was big, spacious and comfortable. Heater kept the room very warm and cosy. Also really enjoyed the hot spring bath! If you're planning to do a night tour around the Okunoin cemetery, keep in mind there's a curfew for returning at night! Be sure to attend the morning prayers as it is an interesting experience.

A truly unique and unforgettable lodging experience. The vast wooden building offered an incredible sense of tranquility. Morning prayers were held in a space blessed by the presence of deities and Buddhas, and the powerful chanting brought a different kind of peace to the soul. 🙏

Easy check in. Although the monk do not speak much English, they made great effort to host us. Communicated with English instructions and translator device. Food was amazing. Location is good. Also included a little introduction of the temple after the morning praying.

Excellent location, renovated rooms.
No extra services, like booking tours around city. Bathroom is open only 4-8pm.

Loved the vibe of this place. It felt very traditional and was a super unique experience. The included dinner and breakfast were alright, not quite my speed but I enjoyed it for the most part. The morning ceremony at 6:45am was cool, and we were given a quick tour and history lesson after. The room was warm and clean, even after it snowed quite a bit overnight. The bath was great too. I’d definitely stay here again.
