Yadoya Kyoto Shimogamo in Kyoto

There aren’t enough words to describe how absolutely incredible our stay was here. We just checked out today, and it’s one of the hardest goodbyes from our trip. Hiro-San was absolutely incredible. From meeting us outside and assisting with bringing in our luggage, to treating us to a tea ceremony, and then bring us breakfast each morning; even taking into consideration that one of us was vegetarian, and planning accordingly. The private onsen was amazing. It was exactly what we needed after walking 25,000+ steps a day. It’s also situated on a quiet road, a little ways off the beaten path, but it’s perfect for a leisurely nighttime stroll. There’s also an incredible Indian restaurant right down the road that is TO DIE FOR! Hiro-San, thank you so much for the incredible hospitality. I can assure you that we will only be staying here in the future while we’re in Kyoto!

This is a wonderful gem if a hotel in a quiet yet easy to reach part of residential Kyoto. An experience in itself, so home away from home and traditional and luxuriously comfortable. There is a fire pit in the hall for your macha and you are surrounded by samurai and Japanese memorabilia or family heirloom. Hiro the host is incredibly welcoming and wow breakfast was a revelation. Don’t hesitate to stay here you won’t be disappointed - a treasure. Cristina

The property was excellent and our host was wonderful!!

I stayed one night with my husband and my mother, who is in a wheelchair. Despite the late check-in time, they welcomed us warmly and we had a comfortable stay. There was a slope to the room and handrails in the toilet, which was very helpful. The bath was also large enough for my mother and I to use, which was really appreciated. There was also a parking lot just a few meters away, which was great. It was nice to be able to enjoy the warmth of the hearth after such a long time. I will definitely stay again if I have the opportunity.

Winter days are short, and the afternoons get dark early. Mr. Yu asked us what time we'd arrive early in the afternoon and warmly welcomed us. We shared tea around the fire and recommended that we see the Aoi Festival at Shimogamo Shrine. The inn is a one-story, single-family building, which was a lovely experience. You could cook simple meals and enjoy them until the evening, then go for a quiet night stroll along the Kamo River, a truly tranquil experience.

It's very high-class. Everything is tastefully designed.
Hiro is a very welcoming and attentive host.
On our first evening, he introduced us to the tea ceremony (matcha), and every evening we had marshmallows to roast with the children.
The breakfasts were excellent. We also enjoyed the outdoor jacuzzi every evening.
It definitely deserves 5 stars in every way.

I have not even stayed a night yet, we just arrived. However, immediately 5 stars. We had a bit of trouble with transportation, but Hiro (the owner) he waited for us. He was very welcoming and charismatic. This place is absolutely 1000% GORGEOUS. It's a must stay. I will now always stay here. It's like I am immediately immersed in a traditional machiya style house with an outdoor bath with such great decorative taste. He even introduced us with a tea ceremony. The entirety of the house is so methodically thought out for comfort and convenience. I'm over the moon happy.
