Shiosai Resort Kamogawa in Kamogawa

Overall, a relaxing experience. The ocean view from the room was beautiful, though the windows could have been a bit clearer to fully enjoy it. The kaiseki dinner was nice, but I was curious why they don’t remove the lobster’s internal parts — the yellowish liquid inside adds a slight bitterness to the meat. The public onsen is fairly average, but in the morning, when the water is hotter, it feels really good. We also used the private bath, which was a lovely and relaxing experience. There’s an abandoned botanical garden right next to the hotel, which slightly affects the atmosphere at first, but you get used to it over time. The hotel itself feels quite old, and walking around doesn’t feel very cozy. I wouldn’t say the value fully matches the price — I expected a bit more for the amount paid.

The hotel is about a ten-minute walk from JR Taikai Station. The room is very large, facing the sea, and the view is very good. Free yukata is provided in the room, which is generally good.

This hotel is close to Niemon Island. It seems to have been renovated, and the entire building was clean. The lounge, where you can drop in after a bath, offers coffee, tea, orange and apple jars, water, and cake (one per guest), so I used it after checking in and after a bath. It's a nice lounge with a nice view (except for water, it's open until 6pm). The Western-style standard twin room had old fittings, but the wallpaper, curtains, chairs, table, and bed were new, and it was spacious and comfortable. The room had an ocean view, and I could only see the ocean from the bed. The indoor bath was spacious, and there were many washing areas (there was no open-air bath). The women's bath seemed to have a slight chlorine smell (the men's bath apparently did not have a chlorine smell). There were two bathtubs, both of which were quite hot. I wish one of the bathtubs was lukewarm. The wash area had two sinks, and amenities such as lotion were available. The open-air family bath, which is a paid bath, is free to use from 6am the next morning, for men and women. When I went there first thing in the morning at 6am, there was no one there, so I had it all to myself. The water wasn't that hot, so I was able to relax. It was a semi-open-air bath with a roof, but the sea breeze felt good. According to the information in the file in the hotel room, Kamogawa Onsen is classified as a "rei mineral spring" based on the temperature of the spring because the source is less than 25 degrees, and is classified as a "simple sulfur mineral spring" based on the composition. Now, dinner is served in two parts, at 17:30 and 19:30. This time I chose the 19:30 start. Dinner was served at the venue, with a wide table and distance between tables. The sashimi included abalone, which was crunchy and delicious. There was also sea bream sashimi and scallops. The sea bream may have been from nearby Tainoura. The appetizers of large shrimp and the mild-tasting horse mackerel namero went well with sake. The chawanmushi and pickled vegetables were also quite good. The dessert was a surprise, brought in a trout. The chilled peanut pudding in a jar was delicious (they also had matcha warabi mochi and fruit). My partner was impressed that hotels these days need this kind of presentation. We ordered several bottles of cold sake, 300cc of local sake from Kamogawa City and Katsuura, for 1,155 to 1,375 yen. It was reasonably priced and I was happy. The staff at the restaurant were very friendly. Breakfast was a buffet. There weren't many items, but it was just right for me. The seaweed salad in the salad corner had a salty taste, and the uncut dried horse mackerel, tomato juice, scrambled eggs, etc. were all good. We went to get two cups of coffee when it was freshly made, and enjoyed it. The building was clean, the staff were friendly, and I think it's a nice, casual hotel where you can stay without hesitation.

Nice hotel and Hot Spa

First visit by motorcycle touring at the end of February.
The place is far from the highway, but if you go in the direction of Kamogawa, you won't get lost.
In the bicycle parking lot, one open-air section is dedicated to motorcycles.
The building is beautiful for many years, the sea can be seen from the front, and there is a welcome drink service, so it feels fashionable.
The shop is the minimum necessary. Convenience store is about 3 minutes by car.
The room is large and has a nice ocean view, but the semi-ruins of the Flower Center are subtle.
The bath is a sulfur spring that is as close to hot water as possible.
There is an empty water bath in the back and a sauna that serves as a storage for cleaning tools, which makes me sad.
Breakfast is a buffet and there are many items.

It is a hotel with an ocean view that is often found along the coast of Chiba, but the reception is good and the price is relatively reasonable, so it is recommended if you stay near Kamogawa.

I had booked this hotel via Internet, so didn't really have a clue how far it was from Kamogawa station, where l normally stay within walking distance.

I was able to catch a bus at a stop opposite police station for 280 yen, which took sixteen minutes to a stop right by hotel. At first l was hesitant not being near the station.

I am so glad now that l did, as it made me hire a bycicle, which gave me so much freedom. I discovered many new places that l have only seen from the train, and it was a delight to cycle to Kamogawa.

The views from my window were stunning, and the walks were inspirational. Great facilities and wonderful onsen, there is a small private hot spring with ocean views, what a luxurious experience.

Staff were fantastic, always helpful, and went out their way to find things like bike hire and washing. Though there is two washing machines, there us no dryer, and since l travel light l needed everything to wash, so found a laundrette. I went to local dry cleaners who did an amazing job, everything individually packed and ironed.

Breakfast was a feast, they do a special breakfast every other day, the food just kept coming. There is also free tea and coffee in the communal lounge area and cakes from 3 to 6pm, where there is also vending machines, massage chairs and a shop selling easy to prepare food as well as suvioneers.

Generly l have had an amazing stay, clean comfortable room. The service was exceptional. l want to give a lot of praise for the professionalism and attentiveness from staff. Thank you for an amazing stay.
