Candeo Hotels Matsuyama Okaido, Matsuyama1 / 30
8.7
Matsuyama, 2 Chome-5-12 Okaido (in the centre) 🧭 Map
The hotel area, room cleanest and Onsen are amazing. I really like this hotel.
It's located right in front of the Okaido shopping arcade, so it's in a perfect location! However, the rooms and bathroom smelled musty, perhaps because it's old. The bathroom was a bit dirty, but there was a large bath, so it was nice to use it... The breakfast was delicious, and the location was so great that everything else was forgivable. The staff were friendly, and there were even Korean guests
Nice hotel. Good location. Nice service. Very helpful staff.
Perfect location! The hotel is very clean and the Onsen has a beautiful view over the city. My room looked onto the castle - which was spectacular.
If you're traveling to Matsuyama, I highly recommend the Candeo Hotel. It's right next to the Okaido shopping arcade and less than 100 meters from the free airport shuttle bus stop, making it incredibly convenient. The onsen on the 13th floor is small, but it includes an open-air bath and sauna. I used it twice daily, and it was free. The breakfast buffet was clean and delicious. The tram stop is right...
This site of the hotel is very good. It is just one minute' walking distance from the train stop and easily found. It is just at the shopping area and there are a lot of restaurants nearby. Besides, the breakfast is tasty and full of variety. I was very satisfied with this hotel.

Okudogo Ichiyunomori, Matsuyama1 / 30

Matsuyama, 267 Sue-machi (6 km from centre) 🧭 Map
Even if I checked in late, they still prepared a bento box for me, which was a real lifesaver.
I've been to Okudogo six times, which means I visit Matsuyama frequently. Every time I go, I make sure to visit Okudogo. In spring, the cherry blossoms are stunning. The hot springs are truly wonderful, and the breakfast and dinner are also great. While the rooms are a bit old, they are spacious, and the mountain view from the room is beautiful. I went on December 1st, and the autumn leaves were gorgeous...
This is a relatively old hotel. The toilets are terrible; they're way too small and not even separated into wet and dry areas. It's cramped even for one person to stand in. The view is okay, nothing special. The staff are quite friendly. Overall, it's not worth over 1000 RMB; poor value for money.
The hotel is not close to Dogo Onsen street and you will need to drive or get a taxi if you want to go there. There are no restaurants or shops nearby the hotel. There is a walk nearby the hotel you can take which offers nice scenery in the woods. The hotel looks a bit dated particularly the bedrooms and the corridors. I asked for a quiet room facing the mountain instead of one facing a busy road...
The hotel scenery was absolutely stunning in the fall, and overall it wasn't too crowded. The large bathroom had many pools and a private hot tub. Dinner was a buffet with a wide variety of dishes.
Environment: There was a slight musty smell, but overall it was clean and tidy. Service: The staff were proactive and responsive. Their English wasn't great, but their attitude towards communication was excellent. Enjoy an all-you-can-eat buffet with 80 dishes featuring local Ehime ingredients! Savor the seasonal bounty of the Seto Inland Sea: The buffet was pretty good with a wide selection.

Yamatoya Honten, Matsuyama1 / 30

Matsuyama, Dogoyunomachi 20-8 (2 km from centre) 🧭 Map
Good location near the Dogo Onsen Main Building and the onsen streets. The room is very basic and quite small. There was only one pillow provided and there were no extra blankets. There are three onsens in total; one indoor and two outdoor ones. The best part of my stay was the dinner which was sumptuous. It costs 10000 yen per head and has to be ordered in advance of check in.
It was the best decision I made to choose this hotel! 1min walk to Dogo Onsen, amazing services, a beautiful traditional-inn-look with a modern twist and the Dogo Street just 2 mins and the tram station within 5min walk. Incredible breakfast buffet and Roten-buro. The massage chair in the room!! Couldn't have asked for more!
Very good customer service and the hot spring is very comfy ! Would like to visit again
Had an amazing stay at Yamatoya Honten. The onsen was beautiful and really relaxing. One of the highlights was the all-you-can-drink bar right outside the onsen, such a unique touch that I haven’t seen anywhere else! The staff were fantastic, super friendly, and always happy to help. Would definitely recommend it!
Room was lovely, large and with lots of japanese style plus 2 chairs. Smart onsen, with complementary sake available. Good location for Dogo Onsen and the castle via the tram.
The actual feeling is much much better then the images in the website pages was showing.

Matsuyama, 2-20 Dogosagidani-cho, Matusyama-shi (2 km from centre) 🧭 Map
Matsuyama was originally just meant to be a transfer stop on our way to Hiroshima, but in hindsight, I wish we had left Kotohira earlier and stayed two nights at Dogo Miyu instead of just one. When we arrived, our room wasn’t ready yet, but check-in went smoothly despite the limited English spoken. The staff still managed to give us clear guidance on what to see around town. After spending the day...

Excellent experience. Private soaking tub was amazing. Very gorgeous room. Meals were excellent. Miyu exceeded my expectation. I will book Miyu again next year. Its very high value prop. Since I saw miyu was a 2 star hotel, I lowered my expectation but I think this hotel should be a 4 star hotel.
Good service, clean environment, fantastic breakfast and wonderful smile :)
The staff were very friendly and the service was good. The comfortable rooms and facilities were also the best. The meals were also full of sincerity. This is a ryokan I would like to visit again.
A hotel with first-class facilities, including an indoor Japanese-style room with two double beds, an L-shaped sofa, an outdoor bath, a balcony with direct access to the bath and a balcony where you can enjoy the breeze. Breakfast is a set meal breakfast with rich variety and taste, including rice and miso. The soup can be replenished indefinitely. The only slight drawback is that you need to climb...

Matsuyama, 2-27 Dogosagidanicho (2 km from centre) 🧭 Map
I really enjoyed experiencing the Japanese hospitality culture. Both the open-air bath (rotenburo) and the meals were delicious. The only reason I deducted one star is because after staying, I noticed a lot of dust in the morning, which I assume is characteristic of tatami mats. I highly recommend the breakfast, and if you have time, try the tangerine juice at the main branch. The hot spring water...
This hotel's location and service are truly impeccable. Aside from the fact that it's a bit of a climb to the shopping street below, everything else is incredibly convenient. It also feels like a paradise, especially with the two-meal package. Reservations for the public bath or private bath downstairs are recommended. There's a surprise just outside the large bathhouse; be sure to drink it afterward
Very nice place. Amazing onsen inside. Staff english friendly.
The rooms are spacious and clean. The large public bath is pleasant, and the baths in the rooms are also satisfactory. Major tourist attractions are within walking distance.
Convenient location, friendly staff, nice hotel rooms, delicious food
This is a place I want to go back to. If I had the money, I would stay there for a whole month. It was such a happy experience. The staff were friendly, the hot springs were great, and the room condition was great. It was the most impressive place during my trip to Matsuyama.

Conveniently situated right next to Dogo Onsen. Rooftop Onsen has a lovely view of the city and is very clean.
Direct access to dogo onsen and shopping district from hotel lobby
Excellent location, have a "private road" to Dogo Onsen. Staff are really welcoming and helpful. Breakfasts are good. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone who visits the city.
Very nice hotel with Onsen included. Location excellent as well shopping and restaurants are very near.
Strongly recommend to book this hotel as the hotel staffs are nice, location is good and facilities are new.
The hotel is located very close to Dogo Onsen. It has a special path leading directly to the Onsen shopping street. There are a lot of choices for dinner and breakfast. It has all the facilities you are looking for.
