WiFi was strong Cons: Hotel is a bit dated, with its mosaic tiled toilet and worn vanity and bedside table. AC/heating system is centralized, so not much control over wanting heat or cool (the room was warm)

Water dispenser on every level, coin laundry (2 in 1) which can pay using IC card, located right across from the entrance to Okaido with Matsuyama Castle behind the hotel

Opening the window is noisy due to sound of traffic lights and trams. It would be great with to have SMART TV

Mitsukoshi isn't far either, though this particular Mitsukoshi has a limited selection of brands. The front desk staff were incredibly nice, with warm smiles and enthusiastic service. They made me feel right at home

Environment: The location is great, situated on the main road to Matsuyama Castle, making it very convenient for getting in and out of the city. It's only a 10-minute drive at most to Dogo Onsen shopping street

Facilities: From the outside, the hotel looks compact, but it's surprisingly spacious inside, and the room size exceeded my expectations. The separated wet and dry areas in the bathroom are a definite plus

Located in Okaido area and very convenient to take the Ropeway up to Matsuyama Castle. Although room is not huge, it is clean and there’s a massage chair as well. Service is very attentive.

Breakfast offered a rich variety, including local specialties like the five-colored noodles and snapper chazuke (rice with tea), as well as traditional Japanese and Western dishes

There is luxury shopping in the hotel and is next to the Okaido shopping mall with plenty of restaurants and shops. Breakfast is on the 14th floor and offers a variety of Japanese and western favorites

全体的な環境はとても良かったです。ただ、一つだけどうしても納得できない点があります——それは壁です！私の部屋と隣の部屋の壁が非常に薄く、揺れるほどです。隣の部屋にど*****泊まっているのかわかりませんが、夜中の12時半ごろ、急に何度も壁を叩き始めました。私のベッドはその壁にくっついているため、壁が激しく揺れ、3〜4回ほどで目が覚めてしまいました。その後も1時間おきくらいに壁を叩かれ、まるで地震のように壁が歪むような感覚でした！まさかANAのホテルの壁がこんなにひどいとは思ってもみませんでした。今でもあの夜のことを思い出すと、怖くなります。

My bed is right up against that wall, and it shook violently three or four times, waking me up in shock. After that, about every hour, they kept hitting the wall again, making it shake like it was during an earthquake

It's only a few streets away from a massive shopping district including restaurants, so you won't have to go far when you're hungry. There's a tram station very nearby so you can get to Dogo Onsen easily

The internet in the room is a godsend. Most hotels skimp on the internet so you can only load one webpage an hour, and it makes looking up day trip ideas and booking things a huge pain

Conventient location; 10 minute walk to nearest bus station, and about 30 minutes max travel time to anywhere we wanted to go! Room was clean and compact; but the double bed is quite squeezy if you're fitting two people inside

Beware Google Maps getting here, it points you to the southern side of the block, the entrance to this hotel is on the northern side of the block

If you're traveling to Matsuyama, I highly recommend the Candeo Hotel. It's right next to the Okaido shopping arcade and less than 100 meters from the free airport shuttle bus stop, making it incredibly convenient

The onsen on the 13th floor is small, but it includes an open-air bath and sauna. I used it twice daily, and it was free. The breakfast buffet was clean and delicious

It's on the top of the hill next to the Dogo onsen main building, but the hotel offers free shuttle bus from the hotel-Dogo onsen-Dogo station in every 30 minutes. I definitely would stay again if I go to Matsuyama

If you are wondering where to board the bus, its right in front of starbucks at dogo onsen eki. The resort is not bad, worth the price, but nothing to shout about

I got one which has mold on the window panes and curtains. Room smelt wet and the carpet very slightly moist. But the bed was comfortable at least and the temperature control worked. Unit bath was upgraded but tiny

Location - The JR station is good for getting into and getting out but there are not much around here. Hotel is next to the tram station that can get you to Dogo Onsen and the castle is within walking distance

The hotel is no longer called "NEW Kajiwara Hotel." The name is simply "Kajiwara Hotel." My room was clean and comfortable. Convenient location less than a five-minute walk from JR Matsuyama Station.

It is very close to Matsuyama station but there are not convinience stores nearby. The building seems a bit old though, the rooms are OK. Breakfast was OK

Only 5 mins from the Dogo station and just beside Dogo Onsen. Room wise is not new, but clean and is still on a physical key system. The toilet has a bathtub and hot and cold water is using two tap scrolling system

The lobby is very nice, but the regular rooms are old, the breakfast and dinner buffet is clean and varied, but there is nothing to eat, the hotel's private parking lot is 880 yen, but if you go a little further into the alley, there are private parking lots for 600 yen and 400 yen

Both dinner and breakfast were buffet-style, and I was very satisfied. They had a variety of dishes made with Matsuyama ingredients, and the restaurant was comfortable. The water was incredibly clean

October 2025 I stayed in the Premium (New Wing). It's been a while since the hotel was renovated, but it's still beautiful. The elevator requires a key card, which may be more comfortable for women

Considering the location of the hotel, there is a convenience store very close by, but there is also a Don Quijote a little further away (just under 600m), so it is not too far to walk

Had some trouble communication using towels. (I don't ask for cleaning the room normally, so I wanted towels in advance. They said 'No', I need to charge for them

However, even if you prefer not to walk extensively, there's a tram station and a 7-Eleven just a 1-2 minute walk directly outside the property, which is super convenient, especially for solo travelers

The hotel is located right behind Matsuyama Castle, with a hiking trail starting there that leads directly up to the castle, so you don't have to go all the way around to the front entrance

The hotel staff were incredibly kind! I think I messed up dialing the phone and only my voice went through, but before I could figure out what to do, they came to my room to assist me

For transportation, it's conveniently close to Iyo Railway Shimizu-machi Station. If you have a JR Shikoku Pass, you can ride all Iyo Railway trains

Beautiful little Ryokan with only 7 rooms in the Dogo area. We loved our 3 nights and really appreciated the host's style, advice and Hisa's japanese vegetable breakfast

The Dogo area is quaint but full of interesting shops, alleys, and restaurants without being wildly expensive or pretentious like can be found in some larger cities

The Ryokan itself is located just off the main street meaning it stayed quiet and comfortable the whole time while still having great access to everything nearby

He is the sole owner/proprietor of the Ryokan and puts forth 150% effort at all times to ensure you are comfortable, happy, and getting to all the cool places
