The ryokan is clean, spacious, the food delicately prepared and delicious. Our room is facing the mountain and we were blessed with the changing view of the mountain with the changing weather from partial sunny, light rain or snowing. It also provides shuttle service to Uesugi Shrine and Yinezawa Station, very convenient. We fully enjoyed our 3 nights half board stay at Takamiya.

The only downside was the small parking lot, but everything else was great. The breakfast was delicious.

It was functional and relaxing. The bath was also nice.

I stayed here on the second day of my trip to Tohoku.
It happened to be the day of the Firefly Festival, so it was very lively and fun at night.
I only stayed overnight, but the hot spring was so nice that I went in at night and in the morning.
I'd like to come to Onogawa Onsen again!

The staff were all very kind and it was a pleasant inn.
Although the food wasn't to my taste, there was a wide selection and it looked good.
I think the hot spring water is of very good quality.
One thing that bothered me was that the air conditioning in the dining area and common corridors was not very effective, making it hot.

It is an old-fashioned Japanese hotel. The room is large. The open-air bath is a little too hot (personal feeling), but it may be that everyone feels differently. It may be that I came here in winter and it was so cold when I slept. 😂

I feel compelled to write a review of this property because some previous reviews had been very bad. We were a bit apprehensive when we got to the ryokan. It was raining, we were early (1 o'clock) and some reviews said staff were not friendly. If we couldn't check in, we would have to find some other shelter. As it turned out, the friendly gentleman at the reception allowed us to check in. The next 2 days were most enjoyable. The food was excellent and they provided a shuttle service for us to visit Uesugi shrine on day 2, one of the best sights on that trip. The room was spacious and clean. The best thing was the onsen with excellent water quality. We learned not to trust every review, good or bad. We picked this place precisely because some reviewers seem bend on destroying its reputation. There was a small exhibition on the history of this place near the reception. It was well worth the time I spent there.

Probably my worst ryokan experience in Japan in over 10 years. We paid US$ 280 for one night without dinner. The place is a not worth US$80. Poor rooms, heating hardly working, everything old and stinking. Poorly maintained onsen. Maybe they take advantage of *********** as we had fully paid ahead for 2 rooms. It was my son’s birthday and he was so disappointed as I had told him so much about the quality of ryokans in Japan. This hotel also trades under a different name “Takamiya Ryokan Yamakawa » This was my first experience with Takamiya group of hotels. Better stay elsewhere.

It is a hot spring derived from Ono no Komachi. There are indoor and outdoor baths, both of which are very good hot springs.
However, unfortunately, there is an example of an injection ingestor support campaign. Do you know that not everyone receives the example injections? There are people who want to receive it but cannot receive it, and people who do not want to receive it, right? I don't understand the meaning of discriminating and dividing it. It is an injection that has no effect at all, and even though 96% of Omicron positive people are injection ingestors according to the British data for Omicron ... Corona brain that swallowed only the information on TV without seeing any data. I wonder if he is the owner of ... I am very disappointed because the hot springs are good. I will never go again during the campaign.
