My father and I have been visiting Karaganda for the second year in a row, each time staying for a week at the Hotel Senator, which is undoubtedly one of the best places in the city in terms of location, service, facilities, and staff. The restaurant located within the hotel, Restaurant „Balkon“, is in no way inferior to this standard – something we rarely experience. Our highest respect goes to the entire team of Balkon - the elegant atmosphere, the tasteful interior, the excellent quality and presentation of the dishes – and especially the outstanding service, which is so rarely encountered nowadays, represented by Amina, Radion, and the “ruler” of the bar, Alexander. Special mention should also be made of Altair – simply outstanding! All of this is the result of perfectly coordinated teamwork, which made us return to the “Balkon” every evening throughout our stay with great pleasure. Dimitrij Switzerland

Wonderful stay at Senator Hotel Karaganda. We enjoyed a lovely dinner at the hotel restaurant the night before, and the service continued to impress. For our early checkout, Arina from reception arranged a packed breakfast that was ready by 6:00 AM — generous in variety and beyond expectations. Her warm hospitality and friendly chat made my first visit to Kazakhstan truly memorable. Highly recommended!

Although the hotel boasts of excellent ratings. I found the standard room that I stayed (408) way too small and missing the most basic amenities like tissue paper.
The manager named Dariga refused to accept my observations and very arrogantly remarked that their standards are perfect and that nothing is wrong with the property. Its very disheartening to see high rates and poor standard coupled with arrogant management.
The restaurant food quality was also extremely poor with small portions and no sides
I would like readers to study this property thoroughly prior to deciding to stay at such a place.

Excellent hotel in central Karaganda. Excellent, professional service at all levels. 2 excellent restaurants and a decent a la carte breakfast. Rooms are very comfortable although yes the walls are quite thin. Good laundry service and housekeeping. Highly recommended. Probably the best hotel in Karaganda.

We stayed two nights in Karaganda at the Hotel Senator and had a great time. This is a modern, mostly business-oriented hotel (Karaganda not being a touristy city) but it is outstanding. It is very nicely and stylishly appointed with a nice lobby and restaurant area and very nice, large, comfortable rooms with large windows. The entire place is extremely clean and well maintained. It is very well -run, with staff who are attentive, friendly, and helpful, but very professional. The one running the reception and one at the restaurant spoke excellent English. The rooms came with breakfast, which was outstanding. The menu includes a choice from different set breakfasts - Russian, "American," "French," etc. We tried both the Russian and American and both were outstanding. The American was not really what we would think of as a traditional American breakfast but had it scrambled eggs, toast and mini American-style pancakes. The Russian breakfast included outstanding sirniki, blini, and kasha. The location is excellent in the city centre. It is easy to get to the hotel when driving in, and easy to get out of the city quickly, yet its central location makes it very walkable for the city centre, with many important local sites and places to at or drink within pleasant walk, the streets being fairly quiet and lined with trees.

For such a remote location this has to be one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. Obviously very modern so the accommodation is of a high standard, but it is the staff who made this such a pleasant stay for us. This started from the outset when reception staff were happy to change the room which had been allocated, continued to the outstanding evening meal served in the restaurant (which was extremely good value), then on to the ease of arranging an early breakfast "to go" the next morning at 4.30am and finally with the housekeeping staff rescuing my coat and fleece which I had left behind in the room. This has to be the preferred place to stay if your travels take you to Karaganda, and we cannot recommend it too highly.
