The Ranee Boutique Suites – personal review
The Ranee Boutique Suites is a stylish, lovingly run boutique hotel in an excellent location right on the river in Kuching. The property is only a few steps from the Waterfront and the Darul Hana Bridge, which makes it perfect for evening walks, restaurants and enjoying the atmosphere along the Sarawak River.
I stayed in a generous suite (No. 103) which impressed with lots of space, tasteful decor and a very cosy character. Everything feels high‑quality, well maintained and thoughtfully designed, without the anonymous feel of a chain hotel. The lobby and lounge areas in particular are very exclusive – lots of wood, books and small design details – and feel more like an elegant living room than a typical hotel lobby.
Service is warm and personal; you can tell this is a true boutique property, with friendly, attentive staff and attention to detail. Overall, The Ranee Boutique Suites is a clear recommendation for anyone looking for a stylish, quiet and exceptionally well‑located hotel in Kuching with genuine boutique charm.

Great location, staff are wonderful, room was so comfortable, and food was great. Choose this over the normal branded hotels as a much nicer experience.

I was disappointed! The room rate paid was that of a 5-star however, several things did not live up to expectations. The weather was continuously wet on most days & the hotel could not provide a single umbrella despite taking a RM200 deposit. The keycard needed to be renewed daily or else, I would not be able to re-enter my room. The elevator did not work for 2 whole days during the weekend & I had to walk flights of stairs to my room. For that inconvenience, management did not even send a letter of apology, let alone offer a drink on the house!
Its saving grace were that of the 2 front desk staff & the vegan cafe attendant by the name of Judith. They wr friendly & helpful.

Nice and comfortable plus vintage aesthetic instagram able stylish boutique hotel in the heart of Kuching waterfront, just cross the street can already enjoy the view and burn calories by walking back and forth through Darul Hana Bridge. The design interior is such a lit, back to old town style. They have good breakfast as well as vegan friendly cafe next door. Thank you so much Olyvia for warm greetings and efficient check in process and all Ranee Boutiques Suites staffs for great services and hospitality.

I stayed at Ranee about 10 years ago and coming back now, not much has changed. The rooms feel a bit older and slightly mouldy, and the service doesn’t quite match the price point. Breakfast was also rather average. For RM400++ per night, I think you can find better quality and value elsewhere.

There’s nothing wrong, but nothing exceptional either. It may suit tourists more than locals.

If the reception team and staff were a little warmer, it would definitely make the overall experience feel better. Small touches of hospitality would go a long way.

The air conditioner and ceiling fan are right above the beds. The cold airs are blowing on top of heads makes it uncomfortable to sleep. The towels have hold, and torn, no face towels. We have to carry our lugages to a set of stairs in order to take the lift. No offering of any help in bagges services for check in and check out. US $100 is not worth the price. There are not enought plug in. The reviews have been over rated. The air in the room was damp, muggy, and stale smell.

The hotel is ideally located, clean, and quiet. The only minor issue was the lack of hot water.

Booked the double deluxe room. Had 2 issues
1. The water temperature is not stable. You'll get warm/hot water for a solid 5 min then it’ll be cold.
2. My room had a window in the toilet where the sun shines through so bright early in the morning, should add in a blind or something there to block them.

Breakfast was okay but for the prices of the rooms, could be improve a lot more.

Other than that my experience was great. Extended my stay up till 3pm and that cost MYR200 just to get a bit more rest. Would recommend for the comfy bed but get breakfast elsewhere for sure.

It's cheap and has a good location on the Waterfront, but our breakfast was terrible, staff was not friendly and the atmosphere is kind of weird.

Food and staff was really good. The view from the restaurant was lovely overlooking the waterfront and DUN. We ordered juices, herb garlic potato soup, Japanese salad, sirloin steak, lamb shark and panna cotta.
Loved the Japanese salad and detox juice.

Been here before used to think it was decent only After much travelling and tasting all sorts of foods around the world, the food here cannot compare. Would give 3 stars but 1 is pretty deserving for how they treat potential customers. 'Real food'? That's a pretentious thing to say considering a hawker stall in SG got a Michelin star and remains humble. Real food is food made with respect and love for their customers.
