Loved almost everything about this hotel. Let me start with the positive. For being downtown it was quiet. Loved the location and out onto a pedestrian-only street. Wait, the staff were friendly. Rooms are large and ifyou open a window you can get some light. There are no exterior windows, that is the way most of these were built. I was a little disappointed that the rooftop was not open (that is why I gave this a 4.5 stars) because it would have been nice to visit in the afternoon.

Excellent! So helpful! Rafael was our waiter for breakfast and he was great! He was so accommodating and brought us coffee while we waited for the kitchen to open. We were able to order and eat with plenty of time to meet our guide for our day trip. The Racheros Catrina were very delicious!

Location: PERFECT!!! On the main walking street where there was lots of activity (processions, food, festivities) but the hotel was quiet. Our room was even better than we expected - king bed with private bath- very clean Service was exceptional. Rafael Martinez made us feel like family on the first day. If we were younger, we would plan to come back many times.

The location was perfect for getting everywhere. It was a wonderful place to come back to each day. The people were extremely nice and Rafael Brito Mtz also a great help in making us feel comfortable and informed.

Great service from Rafael and Alan! Super nice and helpful with everything we needed. This hotel is in the very center of Oaxaca on a pedestrian-only street so it’s also very quiet.

Wonderful place to stay, very accommodating and warm staff. Raphael helps make everything go smoothly. The front desk staff is on top of anything you need. Overall this is a very nice place to stay✨✨✨✨

We visited Oaxaca City in September, 2025, and stayed for a week at La Catrina de Alcalá. We had a King room towards the back of the building. The room was large with plenty of room to store all of our items (clothes, toiletries, backpacks, umbrellas, etc.) and was very quiet. The bedding was comfortable and the room was very clean. The staff were all very helpful and kind. The included breakfast was continental, so we ordered off the menu a couple of times. All the food was delicious and fresh. I especially enjoyed the Chicken Mole Tamale. Finally, the location was perfect! The hotel is located on a pedestrian only street in the heart of the city. We were able to walk everywhere! We would definitely recommend this hotel and will return on our next trip to Oaxaca City.

The location is excellent, right in the heart of Oaxaca, and the hotel would be much better if they changed the tasteless decor and furniture. The service is friendly. The cleanliness isn't great, with damp patches on the walls. There was no water in the tap one morning, and they offered no solution or gesture of support. Despite the location, I wouldn't return.

Was really excited to try this place, but wasn't impressed enough to want to return. The service was very slow - to the point where we skipped out on ordering dessert because it would have taken another 30 minutes at the rate everything else was going. Ordering food was also more difficult than it should have been. I tried to order a beer from their menu, they didn't have it, I ordered an appetizer, they didn't have it, I ordered one of their specialties, and disappointingly they did not have it!
Minor detail, but they set our table with paper napkins while other tables had cloth napkins - not sure if they ran out or what, but that's tacky for a nice restaurant. The restaurant doesn't appear to be popular with locals as it was filled with just gringos.

Appetizer - Fish Quesadillas - okay didn't really have a distinctive flavor.
Salad - Organica - this was good, but again nothing that interesting.
Main - Black Mole - this was great. Had a little sweetness, spice, and smoke. Good overall balance of flavors.

Lovely modern and light take on Oaxaca cuisine in contemporary surroundings, make sure to order the dessert flan before the end of your meal to avoid disappointment....
