The Repose in Rabat

This is the perfect place to start your visit to Morocco. The owners respond to your every need even before you arrive with help with airport transfers and parking suggestions. The hotel is adorable and has a very authentic Moroccan feel. The owners completely renovated the old building but retained the charm of an old riad. Once at the hotel, you are enveloped in genuine Moroccan hospitality especially from the lovely Soukayna. The food is excellent- breakfast is substantial and has a good variety of high quality items. Dinner is a series of vegetarian small plates perfectly prepared and presented. As per Muslim custom, no alcohol is on offer. This hotel is located in the medina and it is very easy to get lost. For this reason, I recommend that you take breakfast and dinner at the hotel. The medina is very traditional and not geared to tourists at all. I recommend plunging in and relying on the GPS on your phone to find your way back to the hotel. Search on the hotel name, not the address. You can also walk (through a bit of a wasteland) to the riverbank where you can hire a boat to take you across to some of the main sites in Rabat. The fare is 5 cents if you share the boat. We felt safe walking everywhere and found people to be very friendly- especially responding to a friendly greeting in French or Arabic. Two or three nights are perfect to get to know Sale and also some of Rabat. You may want to spend a night or two at a hotel in Rabat afterwards for the convenience of being close to sites like Chellah, but you could also just stay at the Repose and have them help you with transportation.

A gem in Salè, conveniently located to visit Salè's Medina and close to public transport to get to Rabat. The staff was extremely kind and helpful as of the moment we reserved, and gave us a lot of useful information. The rooms are clean, spacious and the breakfast is excellent. The familiar atmosphere is a plus. Perhaps a bit on the expensive side, but surely recommended!

We stayed at The Repose at the end of our Moroccan trip. The team provides some of the best customer service we experienced in the country. From the moment we booked, their pre-arrival communication was outstanding. They went to great lengths to coordinate our transportation and pre-book our spa appointments, making us feel very well-cared for before we even stepped foot in Salé. The Location & Atmosphere Salé is a very traditional neighborhood. Upon arrival, we were told the local area was "not for tourists" and advised to eat at the Marina (a 15-minute walk). This created an immediate sense of unease that we didn't feel in Marrakech or Fes. The walk to the Marina or the rowboats to Rabat involves several long, (at night )dark stretches. If you are looking for a "landing pad" to explore Rabat easily, or want to wander the area, and eat and shop the local medina t, this may not be the ideal spot. The Riad & Dining The Riad is clean, basic, and functional. The highlight was undoubtedly the dinner. It was one of the best meals we had in Morocco, creative, multi-course vegetarian dishes and excellent mocktails. Additionally, the team was incredible with our 2 AM departure, even packing us a breakfast "to-go" kit. Their service and reliability are truly 5-star. The "Spa" Experience While the staff was incredibly helpful in organizing this, the execution was a major disappointment. We booked a salt scrub and massage expecting a dedicated spa area. Instead, it was performed on our guest bed using a towel and travel neck pillow for coverage and support. There was salt everywhere on the floor and in the bedding, which they tried to clean up post but it was still there and overall made for an unrelaxing experience. I would recommend the Riad be much more transparent about the "in-room" nature of these treatments, as the description did not match the setup or delivery. Overall For a one-night stay or a quick airport transition, The Repose is excellent due to the staff's dedication, communication and excellent dinner. However, for a multi-day stay, the combination of the restrictive local environment and distance from Rabat is worth noting.

The Repose is a beautiful Riad in the Medina with each level having thoughtfully curated spaces to gather, from the rooftop terrace (where breakfast is served), to seating areas at each level and the courtyard (where one can take in dinner or tea), the attention to detail, the subtle Western comforts in a traditional setting, and the incredibly welcoming host all make this the best experience ever!
Each room is decorated with a Moroccan Theme, we loved the blue Chefchaouen room with its cozy atmosphere and seating areas.
The family offers a multi-course vegetarian dinner bursting with flavor, can arrange a massage in your room, and overall will support you in whatever you’d like to experience or know. The family speaks English, French, Spanish, and Arabic fluently to make communication easy.
We will definitely be back!

This Riad in the heart of the Sale Medina is a brilliant place to stay. The rooms are beautiful. They seem like they have been renovated recently, but they very much preserve a lovely Arab-Moroccan style that create the perfect atmosphere. The terrace has very nice views of Sale Medina. Very close to the beach and the markets in Sale. A 15 min walk from the estuary and you can take a boat for 3dhs across to Rabat. Jan and Myriam are truly wonderful hostesses!

We appreciated the hospitality as it was excellent. The breakfast was amazing. The dinners were delicious, fresh 5 star quality. The hostess/chef was warm and welcoming and such an amazing chef. She superseded our expectations and always with a smile. The manager was extremely attentive whenever we needed anything from taxi rides, massages, hammams and sites to money exchanges with local transactions with local businesses.

We loved our stay at The Repose. The room was unique and comfortable. The food was especially delicious and the staff was great. Everything was handled expertly and with thoughtful kindness.
