Hotel Uhland in Windhoek

We had a very pleasant stay at Hotel Uhland. It is located in a quiet area just slightly outside the Windhoek city center, which makes for a peaceful environment. The rooms are surprisingly large, very clean, and come well-equipped with A/C and a mini-fridge. The staff members are incredibly kind and helpful, always ready to assist with a smile. There is also a nice swimming pool on-site. Breakfast is the standard spread you’d expect in Namibia—simple but good.

All in all, it's a good place for a day or two. Location is not too far from everything of interest, security is good. They have a pool and sell beers when shops are closed. AC and fridge worked perfectly well. No issues with hot water as well. Staff was great.
My only complaint is the twin bed in a room marked as a double - even though it was clearly stated that there are twin beds, a double should have a double bed. My sleep was not too comfy in a setup with two small beds posing as one king/queen one. But overall I had a pleasant stay.

I stayed at Hotel Uhland in Windhoek for four weeks with colleagues during a business trip, and it was an excellent experience overall. The rooms and all the facilities were always very clean and well-maintained, which made for a comfortable stay each day. The staff at the hotel were consistently friendly and went out of their way to help with anything we needed, whether it was local recommendations or assistance with plans for weekends.​ The hotel’s relaxed atmosphere was perfect after long workdays, and it’s clear that guest comfort and satisfaction are a priority here. I truly appreciated how attentive and accommodating the staff were throughout our stay. If you are visiting Windhoek for business or leisure, I highly recommend Hotel Uhland for its great service, cleanliness, and friendly team

Hotel Uhland is a bit dated, stains on ceiling, doors don’t seal properly, but it’s clean, adequate accommodation for a one night stay. Walking distance to a nice daytime shopping/cafe area

Fantastic cuisine, good location, fair prices
Nice hotel close to town centre 35 minutes away on foot. The chef is brilliant and the prices for food and drinks are very moderate. You can eat there three times a day! Kids love the pool, and there is a mosquito-net around the bed. Really nice! One of us fell on the wet floor leaving the shower, take care! The is a height difference of 10 centimeters. Put someting on the floor. We recommend the place.

There's a cosy feel to this place at night sitting outside on one of the wooden picnic-style benches; hearing the crickets and enjoying the tree-mounted, pillar and other lights. The television in our room was too small to be of any use - seemed to be the size of an average sized laptop screen - and it was wall mounted, so a long way from the bed. On a hill the hotel's only a few minutes walk from great places to eat like Livega and Goodfellas and the slightly further Joe's Beerhouse. You can see blue-necked guinea fowl if you're out early in the morning and walk up the hill towards the brow. Staying with nature, within the hotel compound you'll see skinks and black lizards with orange heads and jerky way of moving their upper bodies. The owners, Jugen and Irmgard are welcoming, and he shares great stories. We were staying with a group and he kindly took us (free of charge) on an evening drive on which we saw giraffes, water bok and warthogs. Jurgen is fair, too. The pool is small and shallow - maybe less than 1m but I managed an enjoyable 20" swim in it so it's not only for cooling off on those baking Windhoek summer days. When we came back having been on a 10 day road trip the staff were at the door to greet us with warm smiles and kind words. That was an unexpected bonus! :) Breakfast offers a decent selection including cereals, Nesquick, bread and spreads and different types of eggs and delicious beef sausages. When I reported an issue with our bathroom door it was fixed very promptly by Michael, their friendly handyman. All in all, happy to have stayed here and when we return to Namibia I'd be happy to Hotel Ulhand again!
