I strongly advise you to stay away from this hotel. This hotel and its operators are scammers. I made a 5-day reservation through a well-known travel website, and the payment was deducted from my account. Then I noticed extra charges written in tiny print below the total price on the payment document. I am aware of standard city taxes and other fees charged for accommodations in Amsterdam. But reading that they would charge an additional per-person, per-night fee on top of the accommodation fee I had already paid was a shock. I called the hotel and spoke to the receptionist, stating that this was a scam and that I did not accept this payment, and requested that my reservation be canceled if necessary. The hotel employee was unhelpful and refused to let me speak to a manager, and then threatened me. To avoid ruining our short vacation with my husband, I didn't want to continue arguing with this rude hotel employee, and even though they refused to refund the money I had already paid, I canceled my reservation and booked another hotel where I could have a peaceful vacation. After this, I quickly checked Google reviews, which reinforced my negative experience. From what I read, this is truly a terrible hotel with a terrible receptionist.

I recommend that no one stays at this hotel.
This stay was an absolute disaster. The room was freezing cold, the heating clearly didn’t work, and the water was constantly cold, making showering practically impossible. The staff were extremely unfriendly, annoyed, and at times even disrespectful—you felt completely unwelcome as a guest. Especially the older woman, who seems to have no real task but to sit around all day and scold the guests. Particularly outrageous were the additional charges that only became apparent at checkout and were hidden somewhere in extremely small print. Zero transparency. Overall, a disappointing and unpleasant stay that I cannot recommend to anyone.

This place is a scam. In photos posted it looks so nice. Yes the reception is so nice and fancy look. But the rooms are horrible. The stairs are steep, it gives us a hard time esp our room was 3rd floor. We suppose to stay for 3 nights but we ended up leaving on our 1st night because of filthy room, washroom is so moldy, always wet. Tissue holder is rusty. Red carpet floor is dirty and I am so scared if there are bugs. I woke up with itchy skin. Don't go here. It's a waste of money. But if you are okay to sleep in a dirty place go for it.

very bad quality bed cover, blanket, heater does not work. Management is non-cooperative. We had a sleepless night siting on the chair, waiting for morning. It was such a horrible experience. Expensive hotel but worst service. Be aware of booking this hotel.

Please read and pay attention to these reviews, there is no lie in what people write. We only booked out of desperation and ended up leaving immediately next day. Here are major issues:

1. No lift, if you have large suitcase, it is a safety hazard
2. Terrible odor in hallways and rooms
3. Black mold in washrooms
4. Loud noises from rooms below and above
5. Woke up from bed itching my entire body, developed rashes.

By far one of the worst places I've stayed at anywhere in the world. I have a hard time believing this place still operates. Picture are a cover up, Travellers beware, you have been warned!

The hotel was the worst we have stayed at. We were on the top floor. The staff was very nice and helpful but it stops there. Nice quaint lobby but minimal hours We got in the room and we’re blown away at the horrible quality of everything. There was 2 in of standing water on the deck with two dead plants. We paid way too much for a pathetic room. Dirty no soap lights didn’t work chords hanging everywhere no air fan just had to open the balcony door with the rotting standing water. DO NOT STAY HERE unless it’s your last resort or you get it for 50 Euros

I’d love to be able to write a good review for this hotel, the location looks superb, unfortunately I can’t. We caught Covid and the end of last week and we’re unable to travel. EasyJet moved our flights without question, the hotel would not. I offered to pay any additional costs for the change of date and still the hotel wouldn’t change it. Surely some sort of compassion is needed by hospitality venues in times of Covid, as I’m sure they have suffered as much as their guests.

Genuinely feel that a change in booked dates would have cost them nothing. Poor customer service.

The welcome was dry. The room was bleak; nowhere to hang clothes, curtains didn't block out light, and floor five is too far for most other than those whose hero is Sir Edmund Hillary. Bathroom grim as loo seat was strapped together with tape and was also chipped. Hot water intermittent. It, the hotel, was loved once, though it was clear that it was now more suitable for miss Haversham and those as forlorn. Eventually I got an extra pillow and some unwanted bathroom products. Cool location, it's just the place needs investment and love. Jamie 🍍

We had a very bad experience. Definitely don’t recommend this hotel to anyone. Our room was unhabitable. It was full of dead spiders, spider webs, traces of bedbugs and blood on the walls. We couldn’t stay there and asked for our money back, because a room like that is a risk for our health. The hotel did not give our money back, they were super rude and did not care at all. Just unbelievably bad customer service. How can they think someone would stay there, just jaw-dropping?! After leaving we found out that one of our acquaintance has stayed in the same hotel and gotten bedbugs. Thank god we did not stay there and so shouldn’t you either!!

The price was good for Amsterdam and all of the staff were really friendly and accommodating. Our room was on the top floor (no elevator, and steep Dutch stairs!). The hotel had thin walls so you could hear your neighbors, and the bathroom is wet-room style with no ventilation. Our room was too cold, with no way to turn up the heat, but the woman at the front desk brought us an extra duvet. No toiletries were provided besides a hand soap dispenser. The room likely had mould as there was no bathroom vent, lots of condensation on the windows, and I was sneezing the whole time we were in the room. The location was great, a few minutes walk to Waterlooplein.
