WestCord Fashion Hotel Amsterdam in Amsterdam

We had a very disappointing experience at this hotel.

We arrived late at night, so we did not notice everything immediately. However, the next morning we clearly saw that the room did not meet basic cleanliness standards. The bed cover was damaged, there were visible stains and marks (including on the walls and bathroom mirror), and the floor was not properly cleaned. When walking barefoot, we could feel dirt and small particles under our feet.

We immediately reported these issues to reception and contacted Booking.com because we did not find the room hygienic. Due to these concerns, we wanted to check out and move to another hotel.

The morning reception staff informed us clearly that three remaining nights would be refunded. We also confirmed that we could stay in the room until 12:00 the following day since that night had already been paid. Based on this information, we accepted the arrangement.

Later that evening, another staff member told us that this agreement was no longer valid. This was not our mistake. It was clearly a communication failure between shifts. Guests should not suffer financial consequences because staff members are not aligned internally.

When we followed up again about the bedsheets not being changed, the situation became uncomfortable. The evening shift female staff member spoke in an argumentative and confrontational tone. Eventually, two staff members came to change the sheets. One handled the situation calmly, but the other behaved in a very unprofessional manner, which made the interaction unpleasant.

Even the reception area did not reflect proper cleanliness. We noticed visible dust behind the reception computer, which further raised concerns about the overall hygiene standards of the hotel.

We were also asked to pay a €100 deposit per room at check-in, which we did not clearly see mentioned during the booking process. Considering the room condition, this was concerning.

The main issue was not only cleanliness, but also inconsistent communication and the way our complaint was handled. The experience felt disorganized and unprofessional.

We cannot recommend this hotel based on our experience.
