The White Tulip Hostel in Amsterdam

DO NOT BOOK I was scammed out of my deposit of £65.00 I booked this hostel for 3 of us for 4 nights through *********** , they held £65.00 on my credit card ..I contacted them on the day of my arrival to ask if they had early check in which they didn’t but stated I could leave my bags there until check in (no mention of a issue with my booking ) upon arrival they said my room had been cancelled and when I explained it hadn’t and showed it was still confirmed on my booking they then said ow it’s an issue with your credit card again I told them it wast as the room was to be paid upon arrival and the credit card hold was only for a no show but they had put a hold on that anyway they finally said they had booked out our room but we could come back the next day (with £25 extra added on to each night than we had originally been quoted ) We refused ,upon arriving home they have taken the £65 as a no show and aren’t answering any of my emails so I have reported it to my bank , so basically they hook your stay ,put a hold on your credit card then sell your room and charge you for a no show AVOID AT ALL COSTA

Horrible place, Near De walle Red light area, Robbed, even some of their staff will steal your things. They give you locker keys n they keep the duplicate, n steal yr valubles wen you not in the room. Me n my girl friend also face the same issue... Dont go if you want to stay safe

At first I had a 4 person reservation, thanks to the weather conditions in AMS, 2 of the people I'm with didn't manage to come. So they allowed me to cancel at first having to pay a 4p room fee. I was talked into having a room change in to another room for the night, Number 303. The room was super small, unbearable for the stay of 2 persons. My remaining friend didn't wanna agree or cooperate with this situation. These leading me, living inside the hostel, 19Feb having to prepay the a 2p tiny room cost alone and having to check out next day morning .. PS. My friends already live in another hotel now, have reserved and checked in as 3 people room. I went to the White Tulip today, legally explaining i didnt had to pay or live under these circumstances. I was adviced from the receptionist to contact the manager tommorow evening cause he isnt available today and didn't wanna bother him... I wasn't suggested a room to stay the night, from the latest receptionist neither a solution for my problems.

The price, location and staff were great. WiFi was included and you get a discount at the bar which is a plus. However, the only shower that was available for me to use at the time had an old wet sheet in it and it smelled truly horrible.
The worst part is that I found a bedbug on my coat (left in my bed) which I checked due to a recent review here complaining of bedbugs. I also found a single bite on my heel. Check all of the seams and crevices of your belongings to make sure you don't bring them with you!

Edit: Found out that I was double charged a few weeks after my stay. The initial charge to reserve was NOT refunded while they charged me again for my stay. They did not cooperate and it had to go to dispute services with my credit card company to get refunded.

Avoid this place.
