This was one of the worst hostel experiences I've ever had. There was an old tube TV hanging loosely from the wall. The room was unbearably hot and humid, with no proper ventilation.
The walls and ceiling had brown stains that looked like feces, and there was a constant foul smell throughout the entire hostel. Worst of all, the bed had bedbugs – we ended up sleeping in our own sleeping bags because we couldn’t bring ourselves to use the provided bedding.
This place is not just dirty, it's completely unsanitary. I would not recommend it to anyone.

Never saw a bad and dirty hostel like this. The privet room was full of little animals (bedbugs) in the bed. My boyfriend woke up in the night because they bit him. We asked money back and they didn’t give us our money back, and told that it was our problem. The guy told us that already knew about the problem for few days but they rented us the room.

Terrible! Bedbugs everywhere, vagabond people living the whole year. Dirty toilets Dirty floors, dirty walls, garbage inside, old matress, old pillows, old blankets, filled with tons and tons of bedbugs everywhere in every matress, i had to go to the pharmacy tu buy medicaments i was severly affected by these very old bugs.

Okay option for budget travelling. We had a 3-bedroom room. Clean, fresh and calm.
Building is old in the good sense and cosy. Could remove some clutter, like old unused TV - it doesn't add value.

We did not actually stay at this hostel but we met the staff working there and had a long chat. Prices are exceptionally reasonable and looked very comfortable. Staff was very knowledgeable and reassuring. If you are on a budget, we would recommend this hostel.

At the first side it might seems not the perfect accomodation place. The building is a bit old but all the imperfections disappear in front of the warm and kind welcoming of the host. He just not only changed our rooms last minute but gave us a map of the city, many advices and lot of kindness. Something that cannot be taught or è changed by anything and which really enrich the mind of a traveller. Thank you very much and hopefully see you soon
I also add that the private room we had was clean, the temperature of the water was perfect. We even received towels fro the bathroom and the reception was opened 24 hours.

I stayed 2 nights with a friend and we enjoyed our stay. We were scared by the negative reviews, but they must have made some changes since then because everything was great. We stayed in a private room, which was cheaper than getting 2 beds in other hostels.
The room and bathroom was clean, the bed was comfortable and we also got towels. Shower was great, there's hot water and good water pressure. The WiFi was good and working everywhere. Reception is also open 24/7, we arrived late at night and left early in the morning, we didn't have any problems. Also we asked if they had an hair drier we could use and they gave us one.
Also lots of people complained about the place being very noisy at night, but we found the opposite actually. It was really quiet and anyway everyone should get eat plugs when traveling in hostels 😅
Overall for what we paid this place really deserves 5 stars. Hope this review is gonna convince other people to stay here!

Probably the best food we ate in Portugal. I got veal stew and it was amazing (huge to begin with), but it was not the size of the portion that blew me away, but taste did. Also presentation was very "authentic" with waiter serving whole dish in a still hot, right from the oven pot. My dad got salad with beets and was very delighted with it. Although we ate vegetable soup every day at different places and we liked it overall, no place had it as tasty as this - Restaurante Os Arcos was really great spot to have food and if this would be one place I would recommend to anyone visiting Lagos or the region to stop for food. For food they deserve more than 5 stars!
Personally I do not understand people who order Pasta and complain about it later - you are in Portugal - order real food that is fresh and local and enjoy it done the right way.

Good location - shops and beaches. Friendly service. All necessities available. Meet lots of different people. Prices are fair. Definitely would like to go back.
