This property is a beautifully preserved traditional Seychellois house that has been thoughtfully converted into a hotel. The rooms are very comfortable, and the overall accommodation feels warm and well-maintained. There are pleasant common areas where you can relax, along with a nice pool that adds to the laid-back island vibe. The host (Mathew) and staff (Raj), truly stand out — they are extremely courteous, helpful, and always willing to assist with anything you need. The property also offers taxi pickup and drop services for an additional charge, which is convenient if you’re not driving but small transfers add up a good cost if you are on your own. That said, the location is something to be aware of. The property sits at the top of a very steep hill. While they do provide a free shuttle service up and down the hill (which is helpful), the hotel is quite far from most of the island’s main attractions. There are also no restaurants within walking distance. Overall, this is a great place to stay if you’re looking for comfort, peace, and warm hospitality — but it’s best suited for travellers who have a rental car. With your own vehicle, getting around becomes easy and the stay is much more enjoyable.

The Manager and the staff were one of the best I have ever met in my travelling life, I have been to many places and the staff here is exceptional. The breakfast was great and delicious. As well as dinner. The room was comfortable and tidy the same with the whole villa. The staff can drive you to the nearest shop and the beach also picks you up if you need. The location is up a hill which is a great exercise for us to go up. Carana beach is nearby which is a wonderful place. The bus station is also nearby.

Great villa up a quite steep hill, which leads to some nice views. We only stayed one night due to a late flight next day. We were offered the posibility to use the room for the whole next day which was amazing. Would recommend to anyone with a car, but taxis can be organized by the staff also.

Warm and welcoming
Our stay at Carana was great. The staff is the most friendly and helpful that we have ever met. Very welcoming and helpful. Fresh fruit from the garden for breakfast and the avocado from the tree at the balcony was amazing. Beautiful beach right below the hotel at a walking distance of 5 minutes. Loved it!

I stayed at the Hilltop Carana after being in La Digue for a couple of days. The hotel is located, like the name states on a hilltop with a beautiful view of the oceanside. The hotel itself is a little outdated. My room was a fairly spacious but it could definitely use an update. What the hotel lacks is redeemed by the fantastic staff. Matthew handles the daily affairs of the hotel does a great job coordinating travel and tours. Rajah is a great chef, driver, housekeeper and very kind and accommodating. I looked forward to his breakfast and dinner. Ramas was also wonderful and made sure the hotel was clean. All the gentlemen wear many hats and do a fantastic job keeping the hotel in order. I truly enjoyed my stay here.

The hotel has its own characteristics that may seem like disadvantages to some. But I chose the place precisely because of them :) 1. Small area, small pool, small number of rooms. There is no place for large parties or loud parties. And lizards run around from time to time. But a very clean pool, well-groomed area, light bulbs, chairs, hammocks. The rooms have good furniture, the tiles in the toilet and shower are all intact and clean. And there is Mimi the cat. Since the hotel is small, the staff treats it like their own home - with care and love. 2. Wild beach, to which you still need to go down the mountain. There are no sun loungers, no lifeguards - swim at your own risk. But there are almost no people there, and most importantly, there is almost no water transport. If a boat floats by, it is far from the shore and quite rarely. Those who love swimming and are confident in their abilities can safely swim further away. You can also take amazing photos on the rocks there. The surf and wind are strong, you can jump on the waves. 3. Staff. There are no nuances here, they are simply beautiful! They understand the inaccessibility of their hotel, so they offer transportation to the beach and the store. They are very polite, they will help if necessary, but they do not impose their attention. 4. The price includes breakfast, there is no buffet, but the standard set includes a lot of things for almost every taste. The fruits are fresh, 0.5 liters of coffee are brought at once, eggs will be prepared in any form. There is also toast with jam and delicious juice from the store. Dinner can be ordered separately from the fixed menu, the portion is large. Very nice and pleasant service, new dishes. 5. Awesome views, the hotel is surrounded by greenery, a light breeze blows - very comfortable even on the hottest day.

I thank Matthew, thank Raja, Roman and thank the lovely hostess for the wonderful villa, for the clean pool, for their responsiveness, for their help with getting around. Arriving at this hospitable house on the mountain, you will be satisfied!

This place is amazing! We stay there for 5 nights in a kind of double room (2adults& 2kids). The room was really clean. Big spaces and good hot water on the shower. When we arrive the manager give us all the advices we needed and he booked us the car for all the stay. The pool was amazing too, the kids enjoyed it a lot. The view having breakfast was breath taking. The breakfast is quite good, you can choose how do you want your eggs and the plate of fresh fruits was really welcomed. Even when we get back to Mahe in another hotel, the manager was helping us with our rental car. I recommend this hotel in the middle between Victoria en Beau Vallon. People working there were really kind! (I hope they will read this : thank you for all!!)

The property is simply amazing. Super clean rooms. Great view. Amazing service. Special mention to Mathew and Raj - very friendly and so happy to serve the hotel clients. The pool is clean, the sunset view is just 😍 from the hotel. I wish I had more days to stay in Seychelles to stay here, but definitely I shall book here when I plan Seychelles again.

Villa on a hill with a gorgeous view! There is a free shuttle to the sea at any time upon request. The service is perfect! Very helpful staff. Raj and Matthew are great, kind guys! The Korana beach is excellent, uncrowded, clear turquoise water, beautiful views, entry into the sea is best from the Korana Beach hotel.
