Cinnabar Resort in Tangalle

Honestly the best stay I've had in Sri Lanka. Nothing but generous hosts that were willing to help with any questions that we had. The tree house we stayed in was just the experience that we hoped for 10/10 would stay again for sure.

Cinnabar Resort in itself is a good reason to visit Sri Lanka. We had an amazing time staying in one of the tree houses. It offered a lot of space and comfort, it was clean and tastefully decorated. The breakfast (including sea view) was top-notch, the fruit plate was the best we had in all of Sri Lanka.
Nishantha and the team were very friendly, helpful and attentive so we had a hard time leaving this paradise of a home behind.

We didn't stay here but this was the best food on the beach that we found. They have pizzas and the pasta was good even for European standards, in case your stomach can't take any more rice and curry. Nice vibe in the evening with some music and lanterns. They have a choice of wines and the cocktails were good too.

Great setting. Good privacy and nice food. However it was slightly more expensive than what we had paid for other places

Such a beautiful place at the beach. Very romantic atmosphere. Good food and nice staff. The turtle beach is very close and worth seeing at night.
Cave: Madilla road is closed after the flooding.

What a fantastic place. We stayed in one of the tree houses and loved every minute. The pool is a great attraction as the weather can get hot and although the beach is superb and almost empty, the sea is a not great for swimming.mi g as there is an undercurrent . Further up is good as are the local restaurants 👌

This place really is a foodie’s delight - a pair of well-trained and passionate chefs create the freshest salads, seafoods and curries, using quality earthenware cookware over open fires. With a menu spanning Sri Lankan and western favourites, plus daily seafood specials, there’s always something to eat that’s worthy of the beautiful surroundings and spectacular Indian Ocean views. It was easily the best food I had in Sri Lanka. The small beautifully designed resort consists of about 14 rooms consisting of a mixture of bungalows and treehouses set around a saltwater swimming pool and pretty fishpond in dense jungle, opening onto a deserted stretch of beach. The pictures really don’t do it justice, it’s very beautiful there. The super comfy four-poster, mosquito net enclosed, bed had super high quality pillows. This coupled with the quiet sounds of the jungle and waves breaking meant I slept fantastically well. Only tiny little niggle - which would be easily remedied - the cushions on the restaurant seating and sunloungers were either missing or very uncomfortable. Please upgrade these to the same quality as everything else. Otherwise, I totally loved this place!

Mixed feelings about our stay here Positives - Beautiful setting with some lovely touches - Generous and varied breakfast - Great pool and decent size to see properly - Beautiful and quiet beach, yes you can’t swim but there are bays close by that you can do Negatives - This was the most expensive of all our stays in Sri Lanka, I don’t think it justified the price tag - Room wasn’t made up everyday, even just refilling water would have been appreciated - Staff were hit and miss, again for the price tag would have expected a very high standard of service. Not the most attentive or pro active -Small issues with our room, such as reading light not working and shower coming away from the wall, reported on first day but nothing done - Only 2 loungers at the pool and not many on the beach - Could do with some more hooks, shelves to store items as otherwise on the floor where there are gaps that it’s easy for small items to slip through It’s a nice experience to stay in the tree houses but only if you get a great deal on it

We enjoyed our stay in Penthouse suite. Bedroom was air conditioned with plenty of room to relax in open lounge area. Magnificent view of beach. Good sized pool. Beachside restaurant was close to beach and we enjoyed good food. Excellent if you like to stay in something a little different but must be able to climb stairs and not be afraid of heights.

My favourite stay of our trip in Sri Lanka! An absolutely beautiful hotel immersed in nature. Right on the beach, you can walk from your room (we stayed in two of the beach tree houses) to the bar/restaurant area to the pool and to the beach. Shoes not required!
