Coco Tangalla in Tangalle

Coco Tangalla is set in a beautiful location, in a little cove on the rocky shoreline. It is amazing listening to the sound of the waves crashing on the shore as you relax by the pool or enjoy the restaurant. I stayed there on my own for 6 nights and the staff looked after me so well. Whilst my room was perhaps a bit dated and not as spacious or with as many mod cons as other places I’ve stayed (that cost less), the setting of the room overlooking the sea and pool was amazing, and it was cosy for a single person. What really stand outs at Coco is the staff - unobtrusive but friendly, and the food, both at breakfast and at dinner time, was some of the best I’ve eaten in Sri Lanka. It’s a shame they only do a 3-course menu for dinner as otherwise I would have eaten there more often, but I couldn’t manage so much food every night. This did make it a bit more awkward as I didn’t want to go out on my own after dark, so instead I chose to eat at the little cafe opposite the hotel one night, or at some of the beach restaurants after spending the day at the beach, but the food was much better at the hotel. One of the staff was particularly helpful in helping me organise an airport transfer even after I’d left Coco and was staying at another hotel, the service really did go ‘above and beyond’ what you’d normally expect. Most days, I walked 8 minutes to the little beach by Turtle Landing/Crab Restaurant to enjoy some beach time - it’s not a long walk, but it could be a bit stressful as there’s no pavement, but it was vey convenient to have a lovely beach so nearby.

Refreshing towel and welcome soda very nice, the building feels airy and beachy. Our room was the king Coco has a balcony overlooking the pool and onto the beach, with the palm tree growing through the bathroom it's possible to get a wonderful ocean breeze. The bed is comfortable enough with 4 poster style fly net which is preferable to the central point style. The room amenities include in room safe some UK style and some India round pin plug sockets. The western breakfast is plenty and served with fresh fruit, toast etc. we felt the dinner menu expensive for Sri Lanka and having to plan dinner choices early in the day, slightly off putting. That said house keeping is very good, especially the turn down service. Although the hotel sits just off the A2 the ocean breeze and sound of crashing waves make for a relaxing place to lounge by the pool.

We spent 4 days in this lovely boutique hotel It was just paradise! The rooms are nice, well furnished and we had the chance to be in the one with the balcony. The food is excellent, a big thank to the chef But what is the most important and nicer in this hotel is the kindness of the personnel. They are always looking for your confort and happiness. We recommend this place, no doubts you’ll love it. Two couples of French visitors

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights over new year, it was a fabulous experience and we wished that we had stayed longer. This is a small boutique hotel, the team that work here give exceptional detail to service. They were notified ahead of my food requirements and made sure, that I never had to feel compromised on food choice. The food here, was the best of the 3 hotels that we stayed in. I really miss the Roti's, served with homemade passionfruit & papaya jam. Location was excellent, to the right of the hotel a short walk you can be in a busy street with street vendors etc. The beach accessible from the hotel, isn't suitable for swimming however a short walk to the right of the beach leads to a part that is. The pool area is very relaxing, we stayed in the King Coconut room that as a large terrace and also a Coconut tree growing through the ceiling in the bathroom! If you are in this part of Sri Lanka, stay here. We will if near this area, on our next visit.

What a wonderful hotel, perfectly situated beautiful rooms and amazing staff. The service was exceptional and discrete, no one waited around to be tipped. Food was amazing cooked to order and at a time you wanted it. Honestly the hotel and staff.are first class

Very nice hotel. Beautiful, comfortable and great staff. The pool had an amazing view and the breakfast was great. The manager helped me a lot with retrieving something important to me I forgot at the hotel, after we left. Highly recommend!

What a beautiful place to stay, was such a great find. Only has 6 rooms in an old colonial style home right on the beach. Close enough to everything or just a short tuk tuk ride to other places up and down the coast. Lots of restaurants close by with some great barbecue seafood. The rooms are great with large bathrooms, the staff are excellent and very knowledgeable about where to go and what to do. The food at Coco Tangalla was excellent and unfortunately we only ate there on our last night but it was great.

We loved our stay at coco tangalla. The staff was welcoming and kind and the location was amazing. The property is beautiful with a great pool and beautiful view of the beach (although you can’t swim there because of the rocks, but it’s great to watch crabs in the rock pools!) - food was very tasty (egg hoppers were especially good) and the room was comfortable and practical (not huge in itself but the bed was comfy and there was storage for our bags under the bed, and the bathroom was big). There was turndown service too which is always a nice touch. We’ll be back for sure!

Excellent small hotel, we stayed 5 nights and really enjoyed our stay, our room was lovely and spotless, the breakfast was great as was lunch and dinner, some of the nicest food during our stay in Sri Lanka, all the staff are brilliant and so friendly and helpful, so shout out to them all, the small private beach at the back is stunning although not swim able, we had a great stay.

This place is amazing! As soon as we arrived we were made to feel so welcome. The room we had was beautiful, the decor, the comfortable bed, the bathroom, it was all so nice. We had dinner in the restaurant, the food is lovely, the breakfast was delicious. We loved the chilled vibe, either sitting around the pool or on the comfy sofas. We didn't want to leave and will go back! Thank you to all of the staff for making us feel so welcome!
