Raj Mahal offers simple and clean accommodation in a local environment. The occasional train briefly lifts the tranquillity and then settles back down to easy life outside the big city. The shops are an easy walk of about 10 minutes or less, as is the quiet beach, which is in the opposite direction. Sightseeing is easy as the train station is a minute walk from your front door. The trains are at ideal times for touring and getting back in the evening. There is a fruit bar and Raj cooks some awesome food. The rooms are clean and tidy with hot water. AC is appreciated for the few months that it can be humid - otherwise keep the doors open and enjoy the coastal breeze. Raj also has his professional massage and spa on site, so you have an easy walk after your relaxation without the stress of travel. Well done Raj on making this pleasant guest house and restaurant.

Simply outstanding guest house. Raj is a great cook - local and international. Once you understand that about a dozen trains a day go past it is actually quaint. The rest of the time it is so peaceful.

The beach is a short and pleasant walk - especially tranquil at in the evening.

Raj is an excellent host who cares 100% about his guests. The Raj Mahal Guesthouse is right next to the railway line. You can hear the train, but there aren't that many. There is also a room at the back that is more shielded from the train noise. Breakfast is included in all room rates. The garden is beautiful and invites you to relax. The sea is just a few minutes' walk away. The German-speaking owner of the "Auyverda Hotel" invited us to use his swimming pool. If you're staying longer, we're sure we can come to an agreement with him. Raj is an artist and has designed the garden and rooms very tastefully. You feel completely at home. We had the garden room with a terrace. We liked it. The room has no air conditioning or hot water. Normally, however, the water is heated slightly by the roof. There is also a room on the first floor with a balcony and air conditioning. This room is further away from the train station. The great thing about the accommodation, however, is the attentive host and the comfortable atmosphere. Raj's cooking is much better than the surrounding restaurants. So let him spoil you! The accommodation is very safe and suitable for single women travelers. Raj speaks good English and is very respectful.

As a frequent traveler, I can assure you that there is no other place quite like Raj Mahal Inn, in Sri Lanka. It's a lovely little place located a minute away from the Wadduwa railway station in Sri Lanka. Raj who runs the place is a great guy. He was helpful even before I stepped into the place. Helped me with train times etc. and advised me to take the train due to the current fuel crisis in Sri Lanka. The room (Gardinia Room) is spacious and in fact much bigger and better than the images shared online. The other rooms on the top floor are quite nice too. Overall I love this place. 100% privacy.

The welcome at this small hotel is one of the warmest ever received. Raj went the extra mile on everything, lunch on arrival for us and our driver, breakfast, lunch & dinner all available at times requested and although the meals were simple Raj is an excellent cook and all food was delicious. The garden is again small but secluded allowing you to sunbathe without restrictions. In addition to the above Raj is also a fully qualified and Thai certificated masseur who provides excellent massages on the premises. The hotel is in easy walking distance to the railway station and the beach, ideally situated even if it is near the train tracks. Nearby there are several alternative venues in which you can dine if the fancy takes you. My only reservation is that I would not recommend it for children. It is a peaceful oasis with perhaps too little available to keep them amused! Overall a very enjoyable stay.

Fantastic host loverly rooms in very quiet area 2 minutes walk from beach 🏖 5 minutes walk from town. Raj the host is very helpful in providing information And serves good home cooking. Recommended for those looking for a stay away from the crowds
