I stayed at the Sporthotel for 10 nights on an Appalachian Mountain Club cross country ski trip. Every aspect of the family run hotel is exceptional including the dining, accommodations, location, spa and staff. The owner stopped by guests dining tables nightly, the hotel includes a weekly prosecco-appetizer pre dinner event in the bar, a wine tasting in their wine cellar, occasional yoga classes and a shuttle to the local train station.

This hotel is a top place to stay. We have stayed here for the second year in a row, and once again everything was perfect. The staff are extremely professional and helpful in every area — reception, bar, restaurant, and housekeeping. Everyone made us feel welcome and well taken care of throughout our stay. A special mention goes to the housekeeping team: they were very professional, and my daughter was especially impressed when they neatly arranged her pajamas in such a lovely way. It was a small detail, but it made a big impression on us. Overall, this is a perfect place to stay, and we would happily return again. Highly recommended.

Wide range of services offered. The room was spacious and clean. The ski room had all the tools to wax the skis and the laundry included for sport clothes is very convenient. Great value for money.

We made a HUGE mistake booking this hotel for four nights. Cancellation policy very strict (don’t even think about shortening your stay). The rooms are incredibly stuffy but opening a window = no sleep at night. Forget napping too. Via Maistra is a surprisingly busy street with loud partygoers and lots of cars. Street Fair every two weeks in the summer. Nearby church bells ring every hour. Both will wake you up numerous times during the night. The hotel is 150 years old and only *partly* renovated. The red-carpeted hallways have a strange musty smell & there is a creepy antique crib “decorating” the staircase landing above reception. Only thing missing is a little boy on a tricycle ;) Staff very friendly & superb breakfast but please AVOID this hotel at all cost if you like modern ambience and more than 3 hours of sleep at night. Hotel more suited for senior customers.

Great location in the town and easy access to the train and buses. Beautiful hotel clean, very large rooms and desk service was fantastic. My only complaint was that we came in from dinner 1 night and stopped by the restaurant for a coffee and dessert. The woman running the restaurant couldnt have been nicer but told us she had no room for us but we could go to the bar and order. So we went to the bar and relayed that we were sent over from the restaurant and we could order coffee and dessert. Well the bartender who spoke english seemed to have no clue what I was talking about. I should have just said screw it by then but out of principal I went back to the restaurant and told the woman that the bartender had no idea what I was talking about. She personally brought us back over to the bar and took out 2 dessert menus from a drawer and handed them to us and showed him where they were. So we ordered and waited at least a 1/2 hr and I was ready to leave (but my wife talked me out of it) when finally the cappuccinos and desserts came. It was one of those situations that was just so screwed up from beginning to end -it just wasn't worth the aggravation. Anyway I am sure this could have been avoided if people were simply properly trained. Anyway I really did love this hotel but I would never bother eating here if I had to put up with this kind of grief and aggravation. There were plenty of other excellent places in town to eat.

What a great hotel! In town, comfortable rooms, incredible views, close to the train station and bus stops, and the breakfast buffet is one of the best we've had while traveling. A bonus was the Snow Deal pass for gondolas and other areas of interest. We stayed five nights and made it our home base for day train travel to hiking and exploring the Engadin Valley and to take trains following the Bernina Express to and towards Tirano, Italy and back. I would stay here again and will recommend my friends coming to the Valley to stay there too.

Our 5-night stay at The SportHotel was incredible. My husband and I came to cross-country ski. The location was perfect: we rented equipment nearby and walked to the ski trails, then took train back using complementarytrain/bus pass for people staying 3+ nights. Shopping & many restaurants a 5 minute walk. The building was beautiful inside and out. Artwork both modern and traditional, many period details, and comfy updates: detailed wrought-iron stair railings on the elegant staircase, antique furniture pieces on display, historic photos, contemporary sand-etched wall art in the dining room, fresh flowers & fruit all gave it a historic-modern Swiss ambience. Tidy & organized equipment storage area on lower level w convenient access. The room was spacious, private, quiet with a beautiful view through 2 large windows w little balcony. Staff cheerfully & promptly provided our requests for extra pillows & blankets. Laundry service provided: fill a mesh bag & drop in bin near equipment room by 8pm, pick up after 8am. I could write 300 words about the Breakfast. Elegant, varied, fresh, huge buffet of fruit, hot & cold cereals, toppings, nuts, yogurts, eggs, bacon, cheeses served around spacious circlular serving station w side table fullof fresh breads, attentive & pleasant uniformed wait staff. Mixer opportunities w other guests. Driver/maintenance/cleaning staff very hard-working and esp. appreciated. Thank you, thank you!

In February I brought a group of 11 persons to the Sporthotel on a XC ski trip. I've stayed there several times previously. I always look forward to its classic charm, modern conveniences, excellent service, and exceptional, innovative cuisine. All these attributes were in full effect during my most recent visit. Pro-tip: if someone is traveling with a large group, best to start dinner when the dining room opens at 630PM for more rapid service.

The hotel really accommodates skiers and other active guests. We enjoyed the breakfast spread, convenient ski room, excellent sauna, and proximity to bus stops that took us to 4 different resorts during our stay. It exceeded our expectations!
