APARTHOTEL Familie Hugenschmidt in Zurich

I’d like to start by saying I did a lot of research on hotels in Zurich before booking. Many reviews mentioned noise at night, especially in the city center, which made me hesitant. However, after reading through feedback for Aparthotel Zurich, I found only a couple of slightly negative comments out of many, which gave me confidence to book. From the start, communication was excellent—emails were answered quickly and thoroughly. I was asked about my arrival time, and when I got there, someone greeted me right away. They even allowed us to check in early so we could rest before heading out to explore, which was greatly appreciated. The staff went above and beyond throughout our stay. They provided restaurant recommendations in the area and even helped us find alternatives when one place was fully booked. They also assisted with navigating the city, printing out routes and giving clear directions whenever we asked. The location is very convenient, with trams and buses less than a minute’s walk from the front door. It’s under 15 minutes to the train station and even closer to the city center, making it easy to get around. The room itself was clean and comfortable. Although it was noted that there would be no housekeeping on Sunday, we returned to find the beds made and towels refreshed, which was a pleasant surprise. The only minor downside for me—coming from Florida—was the lack of air conditioning. However, I was informed that the weather is typically cool this time of year (which it was), and opening the windows at night helped keep the room comfortable. Overall, I was extremely happy with my stay. I travel frequently for work, and if I return to Zurich, I will definitely be requesting to stay here again. Lee Hudson

Wonderfully clean apartment with plenty of room and lots of nice amenities and free laundry!! Second time here- very nice place would stay here again for sure!

My husband and I recently spent eight nights at the Aparthotel Familie Hugenschmidt. I tagged along with my husband, so he could participate in the summer intensive course at the C.G. Jung Institute. I mention this, because more than once, my husband mentioned how easy it was to get from the one room apartment we rented to the Institute every day. There's a tram that stops steps away from the hotel, making public transportation a snap. The staff at this family run apartment/hotel are very friendly, professional, and attentive. The place is immaculately clean and secure, and at least in our apartment, we had everything we needed, including an air conditioner to keep the sitting room cool, and a powerful fan in the bedroom. There were plenty of places to store things, too. I also liked the Rituals toiletries in the bathroom. The kitchenette had a microwave, dishwasher, oven, stove, and refrigerator, and all of the dishes and cookware to make eating at restaurants every day unnecessary. There are also two COOP grocery stores nearby, as well as at least one mini market. When we wanted to eat at restaurants, we found several good ones in the neighborhood. There are also a couple of excellent bakeries steps away from the apartment for morning bread. Because my husband was busy during the days, I spent my time visiting local attractions such as Lake Zurich (very short walk), the University of Zurich's botanical gardens, and the Chinagarten. There's also a public swimming area nearby, and a couple of museums within walking distance. Of course, there's also the tram for quick and easy access to other parts of the city. We were pleased that the hotel had a parking spot for our car, although be advised that if you are bringing a car to this establishment, you must book it well in advance. Parking is very limited, but secure, behind a locked gate. If you need to get in and out of the spot frequently, you may wish to find another place to park, as our car was blocked in the whole time we were there. It didn't matter to us, though, because we didn't need to drive anywhere. My only complaint was that the apartment was a bit noisy, in part because it's so close to the tram track, but also because the people in the apartment above us were "heavy walkers". I could easily hear their footsteps, and I think they had a child who was doing a lot of running around and jumping. But that's not really the proprietors' fault, as it really is just a feature of being in an apartment where walls, floors, and ceilings are shared. If you need a reasonably priced apartment for a longer stay in Zurich, I would definitely recommend Aparthotel Familie Hugenschmidt. It's in a great part of town, and the people who run it are wonderful. Thanks for a great stay!

Fabulous experience - very clean and centrally located apartment with everything a family would need. Sylvia and Samantha was most gracious and checking us in as well as addressing any questions we may have. Loved the place and would definitely be back.

Fantastic hotel. Would highly recommend. Samantha greeted us and gave us the hotel history. Family-run, spotless and luxurious toiletries provided in the room. Nothing was too much trouble. Short tram ride from the airport and easy to get to everywhere in central Zurich.

A very pleasant and charming family hotel. The owner made everything possible to provide us with the best service, and always with a smile and a desire to help and assist in any way. The apartment was clean, tidy and equipped with everything needed for a stay. The location is excellent, both in terms of proximity to the city center and lake, public transportation and proximity to a supermarket and a great bakery to start the day. We will definitely recommend it warmly to all our friends and sure to stay again on our next trip

I travelled from Hong Kong to Zurich mainly to visit my sister's family, therefore I aim to choose a place which is closer to my sister's home, and finally booked a one bedroom suite for a stay of 2 nights at Aparthotel Familie Hugenschmidt. I mainly contacted with one of the owners Samantha, who is very friendly, helpful and makes you feel being welcomed, and she is kind to upgraded me to a two bedroom suite as she knew that I was travelling with a child, so that we can enjoy more spaces. The suite is clean, neat and tidy, which honestly speaking has exceeded my expectations and makes me feel like at home. The suite is also well equiped, especially the kitchen which most of the cooking tools are there. It also has a self laundry room which is located at the basment of the building. The location is also convenient, which is around 15 minutes by tram from the Zurich HB train station, and it is convenient to walk to the lake side. Overall speaking I have a present stay there, and I truely recommend this to all travellers and hopefully I can have the chance to visit again in the near future.

Lovely hotel in a cute neighborhood of Zurich with excellent transit and food! We went to the lake beach many times during our stay, just a few blocks away. The apartment was perfect for families with a great kitchen, bathroom, and lots of spare linens. Everything we could have hoped for and more - it even had AC. We will be back!

This review is slightly delayed, but we couldn't pass up the opportunity to provide an excellent review for our stay at Aparthotel Hugenschmidt family. From the moment we made the reservation until we departed, everything was exceptional. The communication with the hosts was timely, and they were extremely helpful with any questions, no matter how simple or complex. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by one of the owners and she provided an overview of the apartment and the local area. Gave us great recommendations on restaurants (Metzg-one of the best on our trip) and a local pastry shop across the street. The apartment itself was impeccably clean, and all amenities that you could imagine were available, including chargers, electric adapters, and luggage mats to name a few. Overall, an amazing stay; probably one of the nicest apartment-style hotels we have stay in world-wide. Truly a gem, in a nice neighborhood just two or so blocks away from Lake Zurich. Hope to return again some day to Zurich, and if we do, we would definitely stay here.
