We spent one night camping, it was a disappointing experience. Campsites were run down, ablution block was in a bad state. It smelled like sewage, quite filthy inside. The whole resort looked like it desperately needed some TLC. I believe that staff are doing the best they can to keep it running however its not enough. It needs a proper renovation.
The ocean was murky. I guess because of mangrove trees close by.

Very clean beach. Enjoyed the food...local.food...and excellent service....place food order once you arrive. Otherwise it will.be served very late......

Best experience! Wonderful customer service! Generous food potions and nice cooking! Friendly everything including dogs! I will surely get back, recommending to everyone!

The place once really was a paradise...as the Swahili name "Peponi" says. I knew and loved this resort in the condition it was in when Dennis was running it back in 2006 and 2008 when I spent wonderful days here. Now during my last visit in beginning of June it was really in a poor condition. Lots of things have to be improved/replaced but the new owner is not at the place and the local manager doesn't seem to care. I paid 55$/night for a mid class accommodation, no hot water, pool was just repaired but refilled without cleaning it, furniture at the beach was broken...
Be aware that the video shown on the website does no longer match with what expects you in this resort. We were really disappointed.
The staff in the resort is trying their best and doing a good job...that's why I didn't rate just 1 star.
Please make this resort a Peponi again. It is worth to come back to its former glory.

We camped for just one night. As we were the only ones at the resort we had the place to ourselves.
The place is a bit rundown could do with some attention but this did not detract from our stay. We had electricity at the campsite, lighting, nice seating area with a view of the sea where we ate breakfast prepared by John.
The hot water is under repairs but wasn’t needed as it is nice and warm. The toilets are flush toilets which is great.
The staff were all helpful and welcoming.
We would have stayed longer if we didn’t have to move on.
Definitely value for money.

Get a camping spot near the beach. Enjoy the good food. The snorkelling trip makes a very nice day trip.
