Bahari Pori Resort in Pangani

A splendid, relaxing stay right on the ocean! Francesco and his whole team went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed to ensure a wonderful stay. The lodge is located on a protected mangrove forest and Musa took our family on a very insightful and engaging walk, learning a great deal about mangroves along the way. Our 4 kids loved the very well kept pool and access to go build sandcastles at the beach. Thank you Francesco for making us feel so at home!

A great place to stay in the area. With Francesco's guidance, we arrived on a small boat directly from northern Zanzibar (2.5 hours) and were picked by his driver at the port of Pangani. The cabins (Bandas) are super comfortable, clean, airy with 24 hour electricity totally independent and hence no blackouts. The location is superb and you are taken by Mousa on an interesting and beautiful nature trip in the mangrove forest on the reef (free of charge, of course). You have the possibility to take an interesting river cruise on the Pangani river, shared with other guests, where you witness the life of the river people, the various birds and the serene views, you can have dinner on the river at Francesco's town restaurant (super tasty and fresh dishes at very reasonable prices). The restaurant is also at the local interesting museum and the Yacht Club (which is currently built up). You are surrounded by river views, African art in the club, history and great food. Francesco also arranges a great boat trip to the Fungu Reef, which is a special and beautiful place in itself both for snorkeling (much much better than all the sites we visited in Zanzibar) as well as for witnessing a small strip of sand in the middle of the ocean. Again - all for very reasonable price. You feel that you are not pressed to do anything, and the decisions are all yours. The staff is extremely well trained - in a much higher level of service that we have seen anywhere else in Tanzania and probably in the continent. You will come out with a much better understanding of Tanzania in general and the local nature and people of the area in particular if you are curious enough. Highly recommended!

Definitely the most amazing resort/lodge we have stayed in Africa during our almost one year of travel in the continent. Francesco has managed to create an ideal combination of tranquility, nature, beauty, comfort, good food and positive attitude - all for a very reasonable (sometimes absurd) prices. The minute you enter the place, your are treated as a VIP. The staff - and especially Mousa and Rahma - are unbelievable. The drinks, the smiles, the possibility of local trips, the information about the area and the knowledge that are meant to enrich you knowledge are out of this world. We extended our stay far beyond what we planned. Thank you so much for the enlightened experience. We learned so much and we enjoyed each and every minute.

Francesco, the host, I got to know as more than just a welcoming presence; he brings warmth and character to the place. The surroundings invite exploration: the enchanting mangroves, the ancient baobabs, and the calming waters.

Besides the natural wonders, the historical setting of Pangani including a museum offers an interesting journey while Saadani park offers safari adventures. Bahari Pori is a place where simplicity and beauty intertwine. A destination wholeheartedly recommended to all who seek peace and wonder.

This is already my forth time here at Bahari Pori and it's still a place of wonder with a magical mangrove forest in the front of the beach, you can have walking tours through it up to the end of the riff and stay in front of Indian ocean. If you love Italien cuisine this is also the best place to come, since the director is Italian and makes the best pizza in all over Tanzania with its well trained staff. It's all friendly and safe here, to spend some days with town tours to Pangani or river tours or just walking at the beach.

We spent four wonderful nights at the Bahari Pori Resort. Francesco and his team did everything to ensure we had everything during our stay. The pizzas were to die for, simply scrumptious. The best on the East Coast. The gnocchi, lasange dishes were also excellent. The resort sits on the side of a mangrove forest so access to the ocean is rather difficult. Enjoyed very much our beach walks searching for crabs, and small fishes in the rockpools.

We spent 2 beautiful nights at Bahari Resort. The place is a little paradise with a wonderful view, a swimming pool, great accomodation including a confortable bed and very good food at affordable prices. It is possible to walk and even do kayak in the mangrove. Francesco and his super team are very welcoming. We highly recommend to go there ! Thanks so much Francesco !

Francesco a warm haertedly, helpful Italian and his stuff created a lodge with and surrounded by nature.
Big bonus: he thought his stuff to make real Italian pizza, pasta, mozzarella and bread. Butter and jam are also homemade so you can enjoy a lovely breakfast right underneath a big baobab tree.
"Excellence is a matter of kindness" is printed on his truck. And they mean it!
