We booked the box bed. The dorms are really clean, and the bathrooms are spacious and separate from the toilets. The location, though, is not the best. I would recommend staying somewhere closer to Sairee Beach if you want to go out.

They scammed us that it has a view and we saw properti’s pictures and the rate which was good but when we checked in we faced a horrible scene. They simply said you can check out and have your refund back but where else to go? All properties were sold out in a small island. They know that we can’t find anywhere else to go and they responded very rude. It was smelling like faeces every time we had to pass from stairs to go to our room, in our room it was lights from out always on because the wall was made out of glass and behind of it we couldn’t see! I attached pictures and the lights on is at 1:00 when i could not sleep. It was a horrible experience. Strongly recommend to take some where else and don’t fall for it’s price and pictures . It’s a slum

It’s located right by the port. The rooms are quite comfortable, and it was nice to get fresh water and toilet paper every day — a simple but appreciated detail. The outdoor shower was great, and the staff were friendly and welcoming.

Rooms are mouldy (hence painted in grey). There is no soundproofing, I have not properly slept in 3 days. I was happy to let this all go, until my room got infested with ants. They blamed me saying I brought food :) and they refused to at least wash the clothes that got infested. Staff incredibly unhelpful

If booking the 10 bed dorm, expect it to be a 20 beds with an invisible wall claiming it's 2 separate rooms. It wouldn't have been an issue if we'd known at the time of booking.

The curtain on the top bunk doesn't close due to the ladder on one side so I ended up having to make a makeshift curtain from the towel so everyone coming through the door couldn't look into my bunk.

We were warned about noise from potential construction works next door but we didn't hear a thing the 3 nights we were there. Also couldn't hear any noise from any bars. It was actually quite peaceful sitting out the back during the day

The room, including the toilets and showers, were very clean and the bed was comfy. We asked for another pillow and blanket and the staff happily gave us them.

I had a great stay here and kept extending as I liked it so much. The rooms are lovely and very cool which is perfect for the weather, the beds are comfortable and there’s lots of space for bags etc. Other facilities are good the bathrooms are spotless and designed well. The staff were a highlight being very friendly and helpful. The manager Gung is a lovely person who was great at recommendations, knowing the island very well. The cafe that is connected is always a nice place to eat and it creates a nice area to hang out. Would definitely stay again and can’t recommend enough.

White Jail is our favorite Hostel! We stayed at a few other hostels on Koh Tao but White Jail was our favorite by far. It was very affordable- one of the less expensive hostels and it included breakfast. This was usually fresh fruit, bread with toppings, a whole tea/ coffee station, and these yummy fried dough things. This breakfast bar would be available a good portion of the day which was very generous of them. The rooms have incredible AC and stayed very cool. The bathrooms and showers are quite large so you do not have to ever wait to use one. Everything is very very clean and well maintained. They also have camping in the back which was a beautiful space but bring your own tent.

The owner went above and beyond to make sure me and my siblings could all be in the same dorm by letting us stay in a private 3 person room. It was very kind and generous!

Noise and music high volume the whole day. If u need to rest dont come here. So annoying. Its the bar next door. Even with no one ln the bar the music is high…. No sense. On the daytime they could change the music system and not use a rave one, that coulb be helpful. But no, they are the whole day with reslly hard music (techno, heavy…) and its like living next to a disco. NO WAY MAN.

Nice rooms. They should worry less about folding towels neatly and focus on hoovering or mopping the floors. The staff were very disinterested.

Not a real value for money, beds without a cover so you can't get any privacy when you sleep or when some roomate turn the lights on.

Alert: there is a pub next to it, that play music very loudly until 23:00, so you'll feel the bass and here the music like you are there.

I stayed here with two other people in the private triple room. We were informed on check-in that there was an issue with the AC unit in our room and that someone was on their way to fix it. They fixed it but then the same issue happened again and the AC was not working. The hostel manager, named Air, was really helpful with this. The other triple room was booked that night but Air moved us into that room for our second night, and offered a discounted rate. We really appreciated how accommodating she and her staff were!

The rooms are very nice, and spotlessly cleaned. Comfortable beds and clean linens are a big plus. The location is great too — close to the pier and the town area, but far enough away so that you can’t hear loud music late at night.

We rented a motorbike from the hostel for our stay, and it was in great condition and for a very fair rate. They also have a laundry service, although we didn’t need to use it.

Complimentary coffee, tea, and light breakfast as well.

We were so happy with our experience at White Jail! Big thanks to Air and her staff!
