Koh Ngai Resort Trang in Ngai

The hotel is extremely basic and unfortunately gave me a very "prison-like" feeling. There's no proper shower, just a wet room, and the water temperature isn't adjustable and is always cold. The rooms also don't have air conditioning. The breakfast buffet is presented without any care or attention to detail, and the selection is limited.

In the attached restaurant, the staff are overwhelmed, and you can easily wait half an hour for the bill.

All in all, I would only recommend this hotel to people who don't care about comfort or amenities at all.

We booked an apartment here while we stayed the island nearby, Koh Lipe. After one hour, we noticed that the weather would be in bad conditions for diving. That was our main reason to go to Koh Ngai (and Lipe). So we tried to cancel it via Agoda and got a reply within one minute that it was denied. After that I found an e-mailadres and explained what happened, but I didn’t got an answer. Since it’s high season and it’s very hard to find an accommodation, it wouldn’t be a problem to rent it to someone else. So we paid the full price and didn’t go there. Bad service, not reasonable 😞. So a bad review from us!

Surely the worst restaurant experience in my many trips to Thailand. My Thai friend and I ordered lunch: drinks and food. Order was placed by Thai companion in Thai, which I fully understood, as I can speak Thai. Order included details of spice and such. When food did not come in 15 minutes my companion asked waiter, who said it was coming. At 30 minutes I asked waiter, who claimed we never ordered food. He said this in Thai which I fully understood as did my companion.

I told him to forget the food and handed him 200 baht for drinks. He (she/ladyboy) became belligerent and insisted we owned him/her another 5 baht (15 cents U.S.) and I said he could pay the 5 baht himself.

After considerable more belligerence and threats my companion gave him 5 baht....

On leaving I suggested n which part of his/her anatomy the coin could be placed.

Avoid this restaurant at all cost, and by extension avoid the resort too.

Truly my worst Thai restaurant experience ever.
