Reviews
Pros:
- close to the beach
- beautiful view
- the food is just ok, nothing crazy, it tastes good, but the quality is not that good
- some of the employees are very polite, funny and overall good people
- it may seem affordable (but take into consideration the cons)
Cons:
- the beach is very small and, when it's a windy day and the waves are powerful, it brings all the dirt on the beach(also, not only that the beach is small, but it becomes even smaller because only the sunbeds with blue mattress are from Moonlight Hotel)
- the rooms are extremely dirty and nobody knows how to clean properly and what good hygiene means
- they sometimes do not have hot water, they only have extremely cold water and the shower (which is of course dirty, please don't enter without slippers) doesn't have enough water pressure so it takes you an full hour to make a normal shower, oh and did I mention that the water is salty? It is!
- the towels are not clean, and the bed sheets are not clean
- the TV's are old and dirty, also the fridge is dirty and pretty much everything about the room that we were in and the room next to us were dirty, so I assume its a general problem
- the AC is not well sealed, leaving enough room for mosquitos to enter and bite you all night (this was a very big issue, especially for our kid)
- it's very hard to communicate with the staff because almost no one understands
- the stairs are very dangerous and when they "wash" them they literally throw buckets of water on them and all my family has slipped, but thankfully no one got seriously hurt
- the drinks are terrible, I suggest you to stick to water only
This is where the short part ends, now to be more specific I will tell you my honest opinion about the hotel which has been formed based on what I experienced: So, first off, when we first got to the hotel we were welcomed by a young boy which didn't really spoke english too well but he was friendly, then someone came to "help" us with our bags, but he ended up just showing us the room because I carried the most of them and, then, of course he stayed there and expected a tip (for what, for showing us where our room is, isn't that logical and normal, or is it considered an act of kindness?). Anyways, when we got into our room we were surprised to see how dirty it is and quickly went to the reception and complained, but he said we will solve it next morning(understandable because it was 4AM when we checked it due to a flight delay). Next morning we came back and all our complaints got noted on a book: we complained about the bed sheets that were stained, towels that were stained and smelled bad, pillows that smelt like sebum from the scalp as if someone had slept there before us, the toilet seat that was not clean and had urine stains, the floor looked like it was never moped (it was actually moped, but, since they don't know how to clean properly it didn't matter) and the shower cabin was extremely small (I had to open the doors of the cabin so I can bend down to wash my feet). After complaining about everything, nothing changed, so we adapted and made the changes ourselves in order to stay positive and not ruin our holiday, we changed the bedsheets and towels ourselves and cleaned the floor ourselves. Moving on to the food it was delicious, good variety of salads, but the meat however, was not good (the schnitzel definetly didn't contain meat, or if it did it was very processed because when I threw a small piece to a cat, the cat smelled it, bit a piece of it and then avoided it and spit), in some days they did grilled chicken or some type of chicken stew which were very good, but the rest of the meat was not good quality.
FINAL OPINION: It is not worth it because, even though it is reasonablly priced, good hygiene and clean environment is not a "facility", it is a must have, no matter the stars!
On our arrival at midnight, we were greeted with a warm smile but it was obvious that our hotel room had a problem with the door lock. Subsequently my wife was locked inside the room and it too 2 maintenance guys half an hour to get the door open again. The door lock was not fixed the following day as promised and after 2 days I mentioned it again to the hotel's reception and the same 2 guys tried to to fix the lock. Finally I admitted defeat and was unable to lock the room for the rest of the holiday - having to carry my valuables around.
Whilst waiting outside in the lobby, I notice the poor renovation work that had obviously recently been carried out. Every hotel door was clearly poorly fitted - they were certainly not fire doors and the fire alarm was broken - I would suggest that anyone stay in a low level floor in case you need to evacuate in a hurry.
In my opinion, the best part of the hotel was the food offering. It was superb Turkish food, although other Brits may bemoan not having their British food, I personally loved it.
Given the average age of the guests at the hotel ie over 50, I could not understand why the staff chose to play loud, booming, modern (rubbish) music beside the pool - I subsequently headed to the beach for some peace and quiet and I bet I wasn't the only one.
Wifi was ok for the first 2 days of the holiday, but was then out of action for the remainder of our week, luckily I found the code from the hotel next door and was able to stay connected from theirs!
All in all, I guess you get what you pay for. The hotel is cheap but is poorly decorated throughout, although it was certainly clean enough. The food was good local produce and I cannot fault the staff at Reception and in the bar.
Would I stop there again? - hmm....not sure....
1. No wifi in the hotel
2. Every piece of metal was rusted
3. Rooms were dirty and materials were all stained. We bought our own bed linens
4. AC were making more noise than cooling
5. Zero noise isolation
6. Beach is almost nonexistent and under shadow for majority of the day
7. extremely poor hygiene all around
8. Food was terrible
9. Check all the reviews that are 5/5 and see that they are coming from fake profiles created for that review only :)
