Sea Valley Lodge in Faralya

We recently stayed at Sea Valley Lodge, which is listed as a 4-star hotel, but unfortunately it fell short in a number of areas.

On the positive side, the reception staff were genuinely lovely and welcoming. The rooms were comfortable, but several small details made the overall stay disappointing. For example, only paper cups were provided instead of ceramic, and the complimentary water bottles were so small they couldn’t even fill the kettle for the in-room tea. These were not refilled during our stay.

The water pressure and temperature were inconsistent, with the “hot” water often only lukewarm. Around the grounds, many cats and dogs roamed freely. While this is part of Turkish culture, it did make the shared seating areas feel unclean, as the animals often lay on the couches and left strong smells. The sand by the so-called private beach even had an unpleasant odour of cat waste.

The private beach itself was another disappointment. Despite clear signs stating “tents and camping forbidden,” there were makeshift tents and people sleeping overnight on air mattresses in plain view. It didn’t feel like the exclusive space we expected.

Dining was also underwhelming. The hotel restaurant was expensive, with small portions and food that lacked flavour. Breakfast offered plenty of choice, but the freshness was questionable—cheeses seemed past their best, the bread was often stale, and some items felt like they had been served for multiple days. Service was also below standard, particularly from one young male server who seemed disinterested. Our 10% hotel guest discount was never automatically applied, and we always had to remind staff. We ended up preferring the nearby local restaurants, which offered tastier food at better prices.

The location itself is beautiful, and with improvements this hotel could really shine. However, as it stands, it does not live up to its 4-star rating.

Hôtel location is exceptional, located in Kabak Bay at the very end of the road, you can’t expect a calmer environment. Hotel welcoming was good, the quality of the room is very average -which is disappointing for Turkey and the location. No real sea view from the rooms and some bad smell coming from the bathroom.
The restaurant is bad, the food is not tasty, cats are all around and even the open buffet breakfast is limited (not even proper Greek cheese as an option) which is a shame for Turkish Breakfast. There are some better options within 30min drive.
Pool is not as big as in the pictures.
Pricing is correct but manage your expectations.
