Reviews
I’ve never seen a hotel that doesn’t have slippers??
The shampoo, hand soap, body wash was from Rituals. It was good
That evening, my son's condition deteriorated rapidly, and we ran out of medication. He developed a fever, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, and our whole family didn't sleep a wink all night. This stay was absolutely terrible! We had no choice but to rush to the Royal Hospital's emergency department on the morning of the 29th and were forced to cancel all remaining itinerary—including booked restaurants and attractions. All because the lost medication worsened his condition. This is an extremely serious health and safety incident involving a child!
In my attempts to communicate with the hotel, I only encountered arrogance and bureaucratic delays. The paper bag was still "searching" when we checked out. A woman named Neli promised to email me updates, but I never received any further messages, and my emails went unanswered.
While we were waiting in the lobby, another male guest in his fifties also got into an argument with hotel staff over lost items. Clearly, my experience wasn't an isolated incident, and I have ample reason to question the hotel's management practices.

We had the 4-course menu, and all courses were great. Especially the cod was amazing, and serving a partridge's leg with talons still attached is really impressive!
If you get the chance, ask to go upstairs and see their wine "cellar".
At £45 for a menu, it is very reasonably priced. Definitely recommend going there!
The fish as a main dish was cooked properly but the presentation left a lot to be desired, and it was just too dry (no sauce or anything, which it desperately needed) for a salmon dish. It reminded me of something I used to cook for myself during uni - salmon and fried potatoes just dropped on a plate. For the price, I expected more. And I know it's a touristy place so we should have known better...but we were starving and needed to eat at the end of the day -- so I feel the fact that I still felt it was terrible says a lot. Normally when you're that hungry, stuff like I mentioned doesn't stand out...but this place seems to need a wake up call.
I feel bad as the staff seems very nice, but I guess it's the manager who doesn't seem to get that maybe not everything is perfect.
During our stay at Edinburgh, we went two times to Il Castello. The first time we had classical pasta and pizza dishes which were very good and reasonable priced. The second time we went for a three-course dinner and had seafood starters, grilled fish and seafood pasta as main and typical Italian deserts. All dishes were tasting wonderful. The service is very friendly and came with good recommendations. The kitchen is partly open so that you can watch while your food is prepared.
Il Castello is located very close to Grassmarket and Victoria Street, but it is by far less crowded and it seems that most customers come from the neighborhood. If you are looking for some really good food in a relaxed environment and close to Edinburgh Castle, I recommend the Il Castello.
