This is a hidden gem of a hotel in Edinburgh. The rooms are excellent and the food is delicious. Excellent service throughout.

It looks like student accommodation from the outside however the Scholar Hotel has been refurbished and the interior is beautiful. Our room was clean with very comfortable beds.  The staff were friendly and efficient.  It is not in the centre of Edinburgh but was convenient for an interview at The Usher building which was a 10 minute drive away.  We would stay again.

It’s a very beautiful experience in the scholar, located in the university of Edinburgh. The room is clean and quiet. The view behind the hotel is so peaceful and it’s very convenient for visitors to go on a hiking.

The hotel isn't far from Edinburgh Castle, about 5 bus stops away or an 8-pound Uber ride. The environment is really good. It seems to be a hotel associated with an exchange center at the University of Edinburgh, consisting of several three or four-story buildings. My room was in an older building next door, which had premium rooms. The room size was moderate, very clean and tidy, and the shower was comparable to a star-rated hotel in China. Facilities were complete, including a coffee machine.

What's particularly worth recommending is the breakfast; it's à la carte! You can choose from classic Scottish breakfast haggis sets, vegetarian haggis sets, and more. It's genuinely excellent; I almost wanted to extend my stay for a couple more days just to try everything, haha.

The hotel is in a quiet and ideal location! Only 15 mins to the main city centre by bus, with bus stop being opposite the hotel. The staff were super friendly and accommodating, and made the stay comfortable. Unfortunately the hotel was under doing a renovation during the visit which meant some rooms and the hallway walls weren’t clean but I’m sure once the renovation gets done a it will a a clean hotel. Safe area away from the busy city centre. Recommend for solo and couple stays.

The hotel is conveniently located next to a bus stop where we could take the bus from and to the city centre. We tried to walk from the city centre to the hotel once and realised that the route wasn’t very flat - not the most walkable. The room we stayed in was very clean, with sufficient essentials provided. The staff were nice and friendly.

Excellent stay and warm welcome by the reception. Excellent location to restaurant and grocery shops.

Really beautiful bar with a wonderful staff. Everyone is so friendly. You can choose table service or order food at the bar. The food is a bit pricey, and I had to slice my pizza myself. I also found it odd that someone would put whole hazelnuts on a pizza. Regardless, it was really yummy. Also recommend the burger and chips.

Came in for lunch. Interior is quite nice, warm and has a nice bar area.
Ordered as part of the set lunch menu.
A little wait for the food.
Can't really go wrong with a burger and chips but the chicken was a little dry and some of the pots holding sauces had a couple of chips and cracks.
Apple and blackberry crumble was quite disappointing, most of the filling was reduced to a very sweet liquid with only seeds remaining.
With drinks, there was a nice selection available but most of them were made up of large ice cubes.

Overall, it was okay. Prices are quite reasonable with the set lunch and quality of the food was mediocre. Table service is with reservations and not sitting in the bar area, where you make orders at the bar.
