Reviews
The rooms were really nice as well. Comfy and cozy.
Bret’s thoughtful suggestions really enhanced our stay. His positive attitude and care made our experience so much more pleasant and memorable.
Outstanding service like his is what sets a great hotel apart — Bret is a true asset to the JW Marriott and honestly deserves a raise!
Our 2nd-floor casita had great views of Camelback Mountain and was spacious, clean, and full of thoughtful touches. The resort feels peaceful and upscale without being stuffy.
Insider tip: Book your spa treatments early for the best selection and some possible discounts. Already planning our next visit — highly recommend!
Two disappointments: bedding and the cabana. The mattress felt tired and warm with visible body impressions, and the pillows were totally flat; we actually slept best on the sofas. The cabana day was the biggest let-down: ours had no welcome sign and arrived visibly dirty—stained furniture (sunscreen/drinks), dried bird droppings, and surfaces that took multiple wipes (I even had to scrape food residue off a table). The TV remote only worked at a weird angle, and what I thought would be full bottles of sunscreen turned out to be two small tubs after asking. The misting fan and drawn curtains did help, but overall it felt worn and unsanitary, which doesn’t match the high standard elsewhere on property.
Highlights: beautiful gardens (a groundskeeper even gave us a sweet mini-tour), kind staff everywhere, and spotless housekeeping. Wayfinding could be clearer—the resort map is a bit confusing. We’d happily return when the spa reopens; if the cabanas get a deep-clean/refresh and bedding is upgraded, this is an easy five-star stay.
But a beautiful property; view of the surrounding mountains.
I arrived to my room and there was a dead roach sitting by the bed. There were other dead bugs by the front door, gnats flying around in the bathroom due to a clogged bathtub. Upon arrival the bathtub had sitting water in the tub due to the clog. The room was disgusting. I contacted the manager and asked to come see the room. He did, he was apologetic and placed me in another room.
One problem -
Reserved a cabana (for a fee) for the day. Wanted shade in the 105 degree heat.
The fan/mister was not working inside cabana. It was like an oven. Staff said would be fixed the next day - Never fixed all week.
Otherwise a beautiful resort.
