Anaheim Desert Inn and Suites in Anaheim

While we chose this hotel for its proximity to Disneyland and its competitive rates, our experience was incredibly disappointing. What we encountered was simply unacceptable for any guest, especially those traveling with seniors. The most upsetting moment was finding a cockroach in the bathroom at 4:00 AM. I am incredibly grateful that I found it and not my 85- and 86-year-old parents; the shock of seeing it run could have easily caused them to trip or fall. Finding pests in a room is a major red flag regarding the hotel’s overall cleanliness and hygiene standards. Beyond the pests, the stay was plagued by functional and service issues: Maintenance: Our sink clogged daily, which was a constant inconvenience. Noise: Nothing is sound proof in hotels but the walls provide almost no insulation; you can hear every sound from neighboring rooms. Amenities: The "amenities" are severely lacking. There is no body wash provided, only a small bar of soap that crumbles after a single use. Can we bring our own, of course and we did but small amenities like this make a difference.   Luggage storage costs: It was frustrating to have to pay for a luggage locker when every other hotel in the area offers this as a basic, free service. When I shared these concerns with the onsite manager, the response was dismissive. A simple "we’re sorry, we’ll talk to cleaning" does not address the gravity of finding roaches or the general lack of upkeep.  No effort to make it right, no compensation, and zero genuine concern. The location is the only thing this out dated hotel has going for it. Unfortunately, a great location doesn’t make up for a horrible experience. We will not be returning.
