Capes Hotel in Virginia Beach

Of the many hotels I've stayed at locally, the staff and safety and general cleanliness would have put this location at the top of my list for another stay. Special recognition for the lovely, helpful staff who were an absolute pleasure. The location and the size of the room and the view were great, the affordable price felt right given the property is older and no-frills.

However, I will not stay at this location again. The dealbreaker was that the mattress and bedframe were extremely loud, left our backs aching on the second night, and (the biggest problem for me) there was no sealed mattress cover to protect against bedbugs or other contamination between guests.

I loved everything else about this location and I wish it didn't come down to the bed - but it does, so I really urge management to evaluate the mattresses and make some upgrades.
