Boutique Hotel Musee in Gjirokaster

This is a true Ottoman house. It's like staying in a museum. The room is totally authentic, except for including a modern bathroom. The family who owns and runs this are exceptionally nice and helpful. Weather permitting, an excellent breakfast is served on the terrace, with a stunning view over the valley, There is adequate street parking. Note that if you're driving, Google Maps takes you way up the hill, through narrow winding streets. Better to look at the map and make your own way to the Hotel, or get directions from them beforehand.

My father and I have known this great place and the hosts since 2019. Absolutely gorgeous hotel and rooms, delicious meals, and most importantly - very friendly and helpful hosts. In fact, the hosts even helped me repair my old film camera - they found the right screwdriver and helped me fix the mechanism. Recommended.

Wonderful stay with an amazing hostess

We had a great time at this hotel. The hostess was incredibly kind and made us feel so welcome. Since it was the off-season, she even upgraded us to a better room, which was such a nice surprise. The room was traditional and cozy, with a gorgeous view that we couldn’t get enough of. The location was perfect — close to everything but still quiet and relaxing. Breakfast was good and had plenty of options to start the day right. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay and would love to come back!

Evisa and Vullnut made hotel Musee feel like a home away from home. Btw, we are from Malaysia.
Besides the amazing panoramic view and thoughtfully designed room, here are some I consider value added features :
1) 5-10 mins walk to the town where the actions are ( cafes, restaurants, places of interest etc). The Gjirokoster castle is also a nearby climb up. Good walking shoes are highly recommended.
2) Your car transport can drop you right in front of the hotel and there is also a car park for a few cars (not common to have in some of the hotels we have been to). No need to lug yr luggage up narrow pebble alleys. Phew...
3) Breakfasts are adequate and different during the two mornings of our stay. Though, no other food is being offered from the boutique hotel kitchen.
4) Bed was comfortable with starched ironed linen. Towels were of 5 star hotel standard.
5) Room was equipped with 4-5 star hotel amenities.
Bottom line, it was a fabulous stay for myself and my husband. We both enjoy travelling and can consider ourselves to be pretty seasoned travellers. I have no hesitation to recommend hotel Musee to anyone.

A wonderful welcome and upgrade to a larger room. Loved the traditional decor and breathtaking views g from the terrace. Breakfast fare different every day. Generous portions. Fresh and delicious.
So close to attractions and tavernas and bazaar.
Will be recommending you for sure!!

We stayed here in their duplex family room for a night during our short Albania trip last December.. very beautiful room , lovely view , warm host family.. we enjoyed our stay .. a little tricky to drive the steep roads leading to it but a lot of sights to visit around , most within walking distance.

Located in the heart of Gjirokaster, this hotel alone would make the trip worth it. The rooms were breath taking, beautifully decorated that really captured the traditional Albanian feel we were looking for. Beyond the decoration the host was thoughtful, providing amenities in the room and ensuring the room was spotless. The hotel comes with a delicious breakfast and a large variety of coffee options. Whilst eating you are able to enjoy a beautiful view of the mountains. The hosts themselves were extremely friendly and welcoming, with the owner even giving us a lift to the bus station and ensuring we got on ok. We would most definitely recommend this hotel and would love to return again one day.

Beautiful and well kept property with so much ancient details from Ottoman historical times. It almost feels like you’re living in 1800’s. The host was friendly and very informative with historical events in the area. Great place if you want to visit Hoxhas house where he was born as well as other important historical homes. Breakfast was refreshing. Great views with relaxing vibes. Definitely would recommend if you are visiting Gjirokaster.

Honestly the rooms are beautiful and some have a view over the valley which is stunning. Very much feels like a historic place to stay. Hosts are lovely, very accommodating and the view at breakfast was also gorgeous. It’s a great location as it’s in the centre of the old town near the bazaar. The drive there and parking can be a bit stressful so get help from the host!
