Beautiful hotel, so peaceful and quiet to sleep. Situated in the centre of old Gjirokaster, excellent to visit the area. Staff are amazing, nothing is too much trouble and always a smile. The only place to stay in Gjirokaster

Really pleasant hotel with bags of character. We had the family ( or alpine ) room right at the top with two beds for children, decorated with super-hero characters and Disney princesses. When we had children travelling with us they would have adored this but the room would have been small for two parents and two teenagers. The walls and ceiling were clad with timber and the views! the view out of the front dropped down to the plain a very long way below with mountains soaring the other side, and the view out of the bathroom was of the fruiting pomegranate tree outside. We were definitely not at home! The staff were always available - speaking good English and very friendly. It was a joy to have a swimming pool on a very hot day. The hotel had provided very specific directions which were 100% accurate bringing us to the hotel. However I had never experienced a road like this. The drive up was the wrong way up a one way street which also carried domestic traffic to the town, and the road as well as carrying two way traffic, also had cars parked on it. Did I mention how steep it was? I was third in a queue of cars and every time the first one stopped for what ever reason , everyone else had to stop. This required the steepest series of hill starts I have ever experienced, but even if you were ready to move, it happened many times that the driver in front had trouble with the gears so you had to abort your hillstart and slam on the footbrake. I have been driving for 52 years , I live in a mountainous country and I am used to manual transmission but this was something else. Somewhat to my surprise we made it without burning out the clutch and were then helped by ever so many local men asking where we were looking for and directing us. I loved Girokaster and only regretted that we didn't have time to go up to the castle. There were many many cafes and restaurants all with outside seating. Maybe now I've managed the road once we should go back. Oh and by the way, it seemed that access to every hotel required driving this road so this is the way to go!

An absolute gem of a hotel. Literally at the entrance of the old city. The rooms are big (we had room 201) and the AC works really well. Washroom was completely redone. Breakfast was good. Eggs could have been hotter or done on demand. But none the less. Everything was fresh. Staff were great and helpful. The owners own another hotel and restaurant. I suggest you do go to the Kodra restaurant.

Big plus is the pool no doubt, but the entire city is really worth a stop. Walking distance everywhere. Getting there by car was the challange. Narrow streets and I neen narrow. Cobblestone, steep up and downhill. Cross fingers that you dont meet another car. Guesthouse fine, nice english speaking girls. Cheap good wine and hang by the pool.

My wife and I stayed here for one night in late September, ‘23. We were here as part of a Balkans tour and our stay was so short and atypical, so I’m not sure my review will be very helpful. The Praga is in a beautifully maintained converted Ottoman mansion overlooking the town and plain beyond. Views from the front and side guest rooms are very attractive. The hotel has some nice touches, including a small terrace and even a swimming pool (unheated and quite cold in late September). The small lobby area is where breakfast is served. The hotel’s location is a bit far from the historic center of the town, and also above it, making a walk there challenging on the return. If we were to return we would choose something closer, and it looked like there are several options to select from. The room we were assigned was tiny and on the back side of the hotel so that our “view” was of a wall a few feet away. The room was so small that there wasn’t space for opened suitcases. Even moving around was difficult. The room had two fairly comfortable twin beds and a night stand in between, and a small armoire. The small bathroom was nicely decorated but there was no storage space. As mentioned above, the rooms on the other side of the building were spacious, attractive, and had great views. In short, your experience at the Praga will depend heavily on the room assignment. Breakfast is difficult to evaluate, because an overnight regional power outage made cooking and even brewing coffee impossible. All in all, this wasn’t a great experience for us, but some of that was beyond the control of the hotel. Nevertheless, we would probably choose somewhere with a better location for enjoying this historic and charming town if we were to return.

Our agency found this hotel, and we were very happy. Location is just next Hoxa and Skanduli house, very center in Girolaster. The building is an old renovated house with extreme good taste and very nice amenities. Rooms are big and bathroom is great. The breakfast is also great. Staff is very nice, friendly and professional and most speaks very good English.

Very nice hotel...a struggle to find, but worth it. Clean and tidy, nice staff with good English.
Large room out front was comfy but you do get morning noise, i might have preferred no view as we didn't sit in the room at all.

I can definitely recommend this small hotel. Very cozy, friendly and helpful staff, nice pool and a little gym with a great view. Located right next to the old town. Our room was on the top floor and the roof was a little low, but it was clean, nice and with good air conditioning

Lovely small hotel in an old house, very close the bazaar centre. Good size rooms, modern bathroom. Also a small swimming pool and patio area where they serve a big and varied breakfast. Helpful staff, couldn't fault it.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. It’s more like a boutique hotel or bed and breakfast. Wonderful welcome by the staff. Our room was spacious for our family of 4. We were considering a larger resort there, but I’m so happy we didn’t. Praga was closer and a short walk to the old town and…that big resort is not walkable to the sites. The room was super clean and had modern and nice bathrooms. The air conditioning was perfect as it was super hot during our stay. Then there was the pool! Our boys thoroughly enjoyed everything! And the breakfast was filling and delicious.

Kuka is a lovely place in Gjirokaster with really good food!! We first arrived at 6 and they told us we had to wait till 7 for the kitchen to open. Luckily we just got some drinks there and waited for an hour. This wasn't a problem at all because it is really nicely located with a lovely view. The food was the best we had in Albania so far and I would recommend it to everyone!
