Hotel Kaduku in Shkoder

Location-wise, this hotel is great because it's really close to the pedestrian area. The staff were all really nice and helpful, and the included breakfast was quite decent. Definitely no complaints there. However, the rooms (at least the ones I experienced) are terrible. The first night, I shared a room with my friend, so we had two single beds. The first room they put us in (ground floor in the main building) was so tiny we could barely put our stuff anywhere. Our other friends we were traveling with were in the other building, so we asked to be moved there. The room we were moved to was more spacious, but I didn't sleep the whole night because the mattress of my single bed was so old and worn that it basically had a crater in it. So I spent the entire night lying on one side close to the wall with a throw pillow in front of me so I wouldn't roll into the big dip in the mattress. I couldn't even curl up or turn on the other side, it was that bad. So the 2nd night, I asked for a separate single room hoping for a better bed. The 2nd night, the bed was 1,000 times better and super comfortable. However, the heater didn't work in the room, only the air conditioner, so I ended up turning it completely off so I didn't have cold air blowing on me (I was there in February, and it was cold at night). Thankfully, there was a heated mattress pad, which was really nice and did help. The biggest issue with the room, though, was that the bathroom floor was completely flooded from the toilet... and they knew about it and didn't tell me before renting me the room! So I couldn't take a shower, and every time I even wanted to use the toilet, I had to put on shoes and slosh around on the wet floor. As a "fix," they gave me a couple of throw rugs to put on the floor, which only served to soak up the water and become squishy, but there was so much water on the floor that they were saturated in minutes. To top it off, my friend in the previous room that I was sharing ended up having a really terrible sewer small from the bathroom on the second night. It was so bad, she had to open up the door and windows (again, in February when it was cold) and then wait in the common area for it to air out enough so she could go to bed. Although, the staff, breakfast, and location were all great, I will never stay in this place again and really can't recommend it. Yes, it was inexpensive, which is why we chose it, but I'll pay the extra money next time to stay somewhere more comfortable and up-to-date.
