Hotel Utopia in Ksamil

The worst Hotel ever!! Don't waste your time to book. They're liars. I booked two rooms, one month in advance. They told me you're confirmed, I provided an ID as well and when i came in person to check-in , i was told, we don't any reservations for you!! We flew from USA with our infant all the way here! Such a bad service. So irresponsible!

Stayed here for 3 nights, the location was perfect. The hotel was clean and spacious. The only thing that made it bad was the fact that we suffered in the heat. The air conditioning was controlled to the point where we couldn’t sleep nor stay there. It was TOO HOT. You leave to the beach the AC would shut off and only worked with your key card in the slot. Which took forever to cool down. For what we paid and what we got I wouldn’t come back here. No one wants to sleep in 100 degree weather with no AC. If your balcony door opened it would shut off. If you opened the front door it would shut off. It was so inconvenient and ruined the entire trip. It was terrible and Ridiculous in my opinion. So no never again will we stay here. Sleeping with Night sweats isn’t what I expected.

I hate having to give zero stars. That's not my style, but unfortunately I have no choice. I tried many times to reach out to the property but they were unwilling to discuss my situation or even work with me to find a solution that did not end in total financial loss.

I will never know what the rooms and location at Hotel Utopia in Ksamil are like because I was not allowed to enter the country due to being a black solo traveler (words of the border control) among many other crazy accusations. Therefore, I was unable to check into my pre-paid hotel.

I reached out to the hotel directly and through the third party booking service and they refused to exercise any level of compassion for what it must be like to be harassed and threatened in a foreign country when you are traveling alone. They were unwilling to issue a partial refund...which seems fair given the circumstances, but more importantly, they were unwilling to even talk with me about the situation.

I caution all solo black female travellers from going to Corfu or Albania. I was so afraid for my own safety that I booked an emergency flight back to Paris. The last officer who policed me while I was waiting to board the flight blatantly told me that he was checking my documents because it was his right since I am black and alone. He also said that it must be verified that my American passport is real. This was the most humiliating experience that I have ever had and I strongly urge any black, female solo travellers who are considering visiting Corfu or Albania to please, for your own safety, reconsider. It’s not worth it. And if you do visit Ksamil, I know the photos are pretty, but please reconsider your hotel choice. If anything were to happen to prevent your trip (even life threats and racial discrimination), they will show zero compassion and happily keep your money.
