Reviews
Stayed one night at Vibe Canberra ahead of an early flight, so reliability mattered. For the most part, the room delivered the basics well; spacious, comfortable bed, TV, fridge, and a decent bathroom. A solid enough base for a short stay.
However, the cleanliness left something to be desired. Crumbs on the bedroom floor and mould in the shower grout aren’t what you’d expect from a 4-star hotel. I let it go given I was only there one night, but it shouldn’t be something guests have to overlook at all.
Room service was another letdown. Advertised as 24/7, but in practice only desserts are available outside the kitchen’s operating hours, something that wasn’t made clear at check-in. I ended up waiting three hours before I could order a proper meal. When the food finally arrived it was genuinely lovely, which made the surprise $6 room service fee all the more galling. That practice feels well and truly dated.
For a hotel that clearly caters to airport travellers, the breakfast situation is a real gap. The kitchen doesn’t open until 7am, which simply doesn’t work for a solo traveller with an early departure. A continental grab-and-go option would be an easy win and make a genuine difference to guests in that situation.
The biggest disappointment, though, was the wake-up call I requested at check-in never came. Fortunately I had a backup alarm set, but that’s not the point. For a solo traveller relying on an early departure, that’s a serious failure in basic hospitality.
To top it off, check-out was completely transactional, with not so much as a “how was your stay?” For a 4-star property, that’s a missed opportunity and frankly just poor service culture.
Vibe, the bones are there, but the execution needs serious work.
On my first trip in December 2025, my quilt had a disgusting yellow stain. I notified reception at the end of my stay (I only noticed the quilt after I had slept in the bed), and didnt make a big fuss about it. I thought that maybe it was a one time lapse by the cleaning staff, and decided to come back to the vibe on my next trip.
My most recent visit. I walk into the room, and the very first thing I see is a stained decorative pillow on the bed. I was grossed out, but again thought - well okay its just the decorative pillow, no big deal. I went to the bathroom to wash my hands, and the entire faucet was loose. You had to use two hands to open the tap, and pray it wasnt going to break if you tried to open the tap quickly or with one hand. I didnt complain to reception, and decided to try rest in the room after my flight. I went to turn the bedside lamp on. Of course, the lightbulb was dying so it was flickering like a disco ball. It was late at night and I was too exhausted to bring anything up to reception, and decided to put up with the issues and go to sleep. The next morning, I took a shower, and, soaking wet, went to grab a towel. To my absolute horror, the towel was covered in stains, mould, and God knows if there was blood on it. Thank God I didnt use the towel without checking it fist.
That was the last straw, so I decided to go to reception to communicate all the issues with the room. Prabesh from reception came with me to my room, inspected all the issues, and was actually very helpful. He offered me a room upgrade and said the hotel would compensate me some money back for my stay, and assured me that they would have a clean, inspected room for me later in the afternoon. My experience with Prabesh was fantastic, and I was hopeful.
Fast forward to the evening, I went to reception which was staffed by another team. They gave me my access cards to an executive room organised by Prabesh. Naturally, I was on edge about the cleanliness of the rooms, and was scared to touch anything or use the amenities because of my previous experiences, but Prabash assured me that I should inspect the new room and that it would be checked prior to my arrival.
And of course, in the replacement "upgraded" room, the first towel I picked up, had spots on it. The chair in the room had stains. The mattress protector had disgusting urine stains all over it. To top it off, the TV casting wasnt setup properly and was connecting to the wrong room. I couldn't even use the TV.
Suffice to say, I will never be returning to this hotel again. While I appreciate Prabesh on the first night, after he was gone the reception staff were useless. Terrible service, disgusting rooms, and they didnt follow through with refunding me any money.
Its a shame I cannot upload videos. The experience was utterly disgusting.
This hotel has systemic issues with cleaning and maintenance, unacceptable hygiene standards, and poor service from reception staff. I gave them 3 chances, and on every occasion the experience was unnacceptable. If I could report them to some kind of authority, I would.
Easy parking, checkin is always easy and staff attentive.
Rooms are always clean and good to go. A short walk from terminal. Servo with Subway next door.
Restaurant and bar excellent along with seating options. Something for everyone.
Nice clean spacious rooms.
