The Jack Backpackers in Cairns

We stayed a week at the jack and had a really nice human experience. The staff is the loveliest, always keen to help with anything and very accommodating. In addition the people staying there are all very nice as well which makes the whole place even more enjoyable. Special thanks to the best staff Ricky, Mattias and Harriet.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I had such a great experience at Jacks Cairns, and I especially want to thank Harriet Trifonos and Matthias for making my time here unforgettable. Harriet was incredible—she explained everything so clearly for a first-timer like me in Cairns and made me feel welcome straight away. She has a real gift for making people from all different nationalities and cultural backgrounds feel at home. I never felt alone because of her support and kindness. I also have to mention Matthias, who works the night shift in the Jacks kitchen. He’s not only a hard worker—cooking, cleaning, and helping out—but he always has time for everyone. I’ve seen him greet and chat with backpackers from all over the world, always with a smile on his face. Sometimes I wonder if he ever has a bad day, but when you talk to him, you realize he has such a brilliant mind and a positive outlook. I feel privileged to have met him. Harriet and Matthias truly go above and beyond, and they both made me feel at home here. Thank you, Jacks Cairns, for having such amazing people on your team!

I stayed here for a week and I had a great stay. The management and staff were very helpful and friendly, the rooms were clean and a good size. The WiFi was strong in the room which is always helpful, the location is good as you’re right in the heart of the CBD. My only negative was the loud music next door in the club especially at the weekend which messed my sleeping pattern up a fair bit. But all in all a pleasant stay and I’d definitely stay there again in the future. And lastly the prices were very reasonable indeed!

I didn't stay here but the pub is around the corner from my hotel. Food is reasonably priced and delicious. T-bone specoal.on tuesdays is a bargain. Staff are very friendly and food is quick. Different seating areas for different tastes. Staff need to learn about wine (I had to explain to a bartender that she wouldn't find Shiraz in the bar fridge and that Cabernet Sauvignon is a type of wine).

Stayed at The Jack hostel for over a month, while i was working in Cairns, and really enjoyed my stay there. Had very helpful members of staff that were on hand to help you out with any issues. Particularly liked the pretty terraced area and TV room above the main bar. Met some really friendly people and overall had a great experience. On some nights of the week it does get a bit loud with the music and live entertainment, but in my opinion this contributes to the cool and social atmosphere of the place. Would recommend!
