I arrived at Melbourne airport at 23:00 date of 23 April, 2026.

I came at the front door of City Square Motel at around 1AM 24 April 2026, no one there, I could not open the glass door, I entered PIN 5922 on booking Trip.com sent me with no luck, and I tried to call the phone number in the glass for with no answer.

I had to wait until there was 1 black man went out from the inside. I stepped in and met a 2nd men (white skin), I asked him some information then he went out.

I took the key Room 212, and came to the Reception Desk, I suddenly read on the notice board the Motel recommend guest: PLEASE CALL THE POLICE WHEN YOU SEE THIS PERSON IMMEDIATEL”: the man in the picture exactly was the 2nd white skin man I have just talked to, I was too scared and looked out the main gate, he was still standing there and stared at me for minutes.

Feel not be safe when staying in City Square Motel, I decided to leave to find another safer place.

I submitted this warning to you and ask for your help to refund the rest 3 nights to me due to not my fault in cancelling this staying.

The room is a bit old and dirty but it’s located in the cbd which is quite convenient with a cheap price.

The guy at the reception was very kind. I called because there was no hairdryer in the room, and he quickly brought one up.

The location was great, but our room was never cleaned once, The toilet smelled really badly all throughout the stay, And there was even someone sleeping in the corridor that I had to step over to get to the lift. I probably would avoid this one and I would never stay here again.

the room was spacious and i was able to checkin slightly earlier and leave my bag there a few hrs prior which was very helpful! the location is convenient but the motel is connected with another business and there is no reception room just a corridor which was fine for me but just don't expect anything fancy, you are paying for what you get and it did the job for me nicely!

I think you cannot ask for more for a budget accomodation located in the heart of CDB. Very convenience location, in the heart of CBD. Chinatown is 10 mins accessible on foot. Heaps of good food stores to choose from. QV shopping mall is a must visit. Be aware that the hotel facility is really run down and smelly. If you ask me will I book it again, .... nah.

The location is convenient, close to Chinatown. Although the room is small, the bed is very comfortable and I slept well. The amenities are quite complete, but you need to book in advance. The front desk is often unstaffed. However, for this price, it's affordable for the average person, and I would recommend it.

Great food as always. Haven't had a bad meal here. I could suggest eating rice with a ladle and chopsticks can be challenging at least for me as the ladle didn't really fit in my mouth...

Whilst the food was very good the experience was significantly marred by extremely inattentive service. We had to ask for service to order lunch. We were upsold dessert as part of a lunch special and then waited for over 40 minutes before deciding to leave when NO STAFF acknowledged our presence and instead walked past us on numerous occasions. We were not asked if we wanted anything further, when dessert was not brought to the table we decided to pay and leave. We waited for someone at the desk to pay and when we alerted them to the missing dessert we were offered no apology. As visitors from interstate we were very disappointed.

Lovely staff, the chili pork ramen was nice as were the soba noodles. The winner of the night were the kingfisher maki. Really nice atmosphere although a little overpriced.

We all know that the food at taxi kitchen is second to none, and our experience today was no exception. The fare was A+++ as always :)
What I'd love to share with everyone is the top shelf service we received! Not only did we attend the restaurant during the busy Christmas period, but we turned up without a booking (yes we were those people, we're really sorry we didn't even think lol) and the lovely gentleman who looked after us went out of his way to find us somewhere to sit and enjoy our meal. As busy as they were, you would never have known they were dealing with the volume of customers that were in the restaurant as they were attentive, helpful and offered unrushed genuinely friendly service.
We were blown away by our whole first class experience :) thank you!

Table of 8 for a work function. Fantastic food. Lamb shoulder is absolutely beautiful. Waitress chose all out entrees at a table of 8 and everything was very good. Waitress was great and worked out to be about 120 per head which included a fair few beers so price very reasonable. Would definite go back.

Was great back in the day, but they have new management now since like November 2017, Jacked up the prices, quality of food as slipped. It's lost that feel transport had. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it's just another restaurant now. This used to be my favorite pub, but now that I can't have my 10.50 pint with my 8 buck mini burger and chips, which was the reason why I went there so often, I'll be heading else where.

They’ve definitely improved their food here. It’s in the one of the most touristy parts of town so don’t come here expecting value for money. We ordered from the a la carte menu - fish, chicken and sides all tasty. The roasted/fried leeks were a bit of an odd addition to the fish as they lacked finesse compared to the rest of the dish. The mock tails were okay however alcohol was added to the watermelon drink we ordered, the unapologetic waiter apparently went to “check” but we never got an update. Water service a bit too slow. It’s pretentious as other reviews have stated, but nice views, mostly tasty food and desserts, so it’s worth it for a treat.

A location that send me away because I only wanted to drink a coffee. The waitress said i only get coffee if i eat something. I really could have understand that if the location would be bursting with people, but it was only 30% full. The waitress said: "We have no capacity for only coffee now. There is to much going on here".
So, 1 star for racism against German people. Can’t really understand that mindset... :(
5 stars for the restaurant next door btw. They sold me coffee, made an amazing service and made 22 AUSD from me because i stayed there 1,5 hours.

Waited too long for lunch. Food was alright, but I ordered a coke and got a glass of it with ice ...no can to refill the pathetic offering of watered down rubbish - stingy (I hate it when restaurants do that). Wouldn't go back...
