Boutique Hotel Kugel Wien in Vienna

I am thankful for the luck I had to catch the last available room in Hotel Kugel for 5 nights in December 2025. It was a wonderful stay in a very central location in Vienna - just a few blocks (about 6 minutes walking time) from Mariahilferstrasse and about 8 minutes walking down the street to Volkstheater. Transport wise - a tram stop across the street (less than 1 minute walking) + a bus stop even closer, which makes it super convenient for arriving from the train station and the airport and basically getting anywhere in the city during your stay. There are many different cafes, restaurants, bakeries and all kinds of shops just around the corner and nearby, to say nothing about Mariahilferstrasse itself.

The hotel itself is very nice, quiet and super clean, the double room I had has enough space for 2 people (and more than enough for 1), with a very comfy bed, wardrobe, a bathroom and tea/coffee supplies replenished daily. As a welcome gift I've got delicious home made cookies, melting in your mouth.

But the best part of the hotel are the people - Christina is one of the most warmly welcoming and caring hosts I ever met, starting with the offline communication before the arrival (friendly, generous and prompt) and of course meeting her live in the hotel - Christina is going above and beyond to help with anything and give you very useful advices and share her experience. Not only Christina - everyone in her team I met during my stay are very helpful and friendly, which naturally creates a great atmosphere and makes you want to smile when you think about getting back to the hotel after a long day in the city.

Can really recommend this hotel! The location is brilliant - so central and close to a number of public transport options. The room was clean and comfy and the staff went above and beyond to ensure a wonderful stay. We got great recommendations for places to eat etc from the staff which we appreciated. It is close to a tram line which I was worried would be a little noisy but it wasn’t too bad at all.

Great place to stay for a trip to Vienna. It's a 10 minute walk to Hofburg, the staff is excellent, helpful and friendly. I'm definitely going to stay again here for my next trip to Vienna.

The Kugel is a wonderful old world hotel that is run by an exceptionally gracious and knowledgeable family. The rooms are neat and clean and met all of our needs. The breakfast was outstanding and includes all you will need to get the morning off to a great start. The location could not be better for all your sightseeing and restaurant needs in Vienna. The Kugel is a very cozy and hospitable hotel situated in the heart of Vienna.

I had a lovely stay at this hotel. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable. The staff is amicable and professional. Another thing we enjoyed was the breakfast. I would advise the hotel to supply soy or almond milk as well. The location is conveniently close to the inner city and we could reach the underground in 10 minutes max. If you want to park your car, there is a public paid parking nearby for which the hotel supplies a discount. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel.

Hotel Kugel is located very close to the Museum District, and easy to get to and from via public transit.

The room was very clean, comfortable, and elegantly styled. Small by US standards, but a very efficient use of space.

The breakfast was fresh and delicious. The staff were absolutely great. Very knowledgeable, polite, and helpful.

Would recommend to anyone wanting to visit Vienna for a self-guided tour on foot & by public transit.

The best croissants you'll ever eat won't come from a fabled Parisian bakery or a trendy outdoor café in Venice overlooking the Grand Canal. My vote goes to the Hotel Kugel in Vienna, which bakes and steams it's XL sized, flaky wonderments daily. The rest of the complimentary breakfast, including award winning local fruit juices, is just as carefully chosen, prepared, and tasty.

Located within walking distance of Vienna's best shopping and most of the major museums, trolleys also make stops across the street connecting you to the vast subway system. Second generation local owner Johannes Roller and his Christina will help you sort out and make reservations for all your entertainment needs (almost endless), and Johannes is more knowledgeable on Wien's rich history and culture than any half dozen local tour guides. Maybe the best part is that the Euros you'll save by skipping or eating a light lunch and not taking expensive taxis everywhere can be spent to upscale your culinary choices for dinner and entertainment.

Highly recommended, but book early - there are only 25 rooms, most of which have been recently renovated with updated bathroom amenities.

When we arrived, exhausted after a long journey, we received a very warm welcome. I loved it from there on... Exceptionally good breakfast and old fashioned charm.
