We stayed at a&o hotels in three major Austrian cities and were satisfied with all of them. We didn't encounter any surprises or disappointments. The room was clean, organized, and exactly as shown in the photos. There were plenty of power outlets, and the reception staff was very polite.The location was particularly advantageous, being within walking distance (15-20 minutes) of Graz city center. Since it was the weekend, we were also able to park our car for free in the nearby Green Zone. We really liked both Graz and the hotel; we would definitely stay here again.

We were given a room on arrival that was not cleaned which resulted in us moving to a huge room. The beds are comfy and it has everything u need including kitchen to cook or make hot drinks. Washing machines ect.
Needs a bit of maintenance though. The coat rack in 427 is coming off the wall, there was mould in the bathroom and floors dont seem to have been cleaned in corners.

A&O hostels have a consistent standard. I recommend them, especially if you are travelling alone — they are a good option for solo travelers.

Book a room if you only want to get a shower and sleep over night. If you want anything else, don't book. Most of the rooms didn't have curtains, and wasn't cleaned. There was a lot of dust under beds and on bathroom sink for example. There's no air ventilation, you must keep window open all the time for fresh air. There's also lots of noises from other rooms and from the street. Breakfast was simple, but good.

Room ok (private ensuite), with ok mattress, ok duvet, terrible pillow! Sparesely furnitured, but fair enough. Ridicilous TV on wall: Size of a lap-top screen, but 4-5 meters from bed impossible to use/see anything. Toilet and bathroom/shower fair enough.
Common kitchen not ok: Terrible smell all days (3 night stay), bad cleaning/hygenic conditions (greasy surfaces, not or badly done dishwashing), very sparsely equiped (no bread knife, no cutting knife, no glasses, one -1- coffe mug, few knives/forks/tea spoons), cooking top not “understandable”/not working, and nor receptionist nor cleaning staff had any idea what to do/how to get to work.
Orderlyness in corridors not ok (fire hazard): Plastic wrapping (from clean sheets?) spread around in piles in the hallway 5th floor over night).
Staff possibly lacking teeth..: Impossible to say, cause neither shared a smile at any time. Hopeless when employed in a service business. Also, no staff present on arrival around midnigh, and no sign telling us how to get in contact. Had to enter behind the reception counter and try knock on doors, before anyone pitched: No smile, no “sorry”, no “welcome!”…

I really enjoy this hostel because the staffs are very nice and I had a good talk with them. My roommate is so nice and we talked a lot and shared with one whole room together. I felt so happy in Graz although it rained heavily today.

This is not a place for backpackers at all. The hostel is just a big business really and the management clearly have a strategy clever strategy going. The strategy is that since people are not likely to stay again, the hostel will charge ridiculous prices and just have really inadequate services for those prices. The breakfast is definitely not worth 7 euros, it's worth 4 at the most. There are no laundry facilities at this hostel. The atmosphere is just not good for meeting people.

Good hotel for good price. Better for young people and location is very good. Railway station is just in front of the hotel. Room are spacious. Traffic under the hotel is loud and you have to close windows if you want to sleep well - but that is not big problem because there is ventilation in every room.

It was late at night and me and my friend didnt have a place to sleep in yet. The staff at the hostel still decided to take us in with her big heart. She understood our condition and tiredness, swiftly taken care of everything we needed. the room was big, comfortable and clean, the beds looked like new and the shower had a strong stream of warm water. The room was equipped with heat generators that kept the entire huge room warm all night long until we woke up to leave the next morning.
Overall, a short but great experience of the hostel.
Please make sure to have a good word with the nice lady that helped us during that night of crisis.
