Madara Park Hotel in Golden Sands

Our stay at Madara Park Hotel was an absolute nightmare from start to finish. Unsafe rooms, collapsing ceilings, unprofessional and hostile staff, harassment, and basic hygiene failures made the entire experience stressful and dangerous. From being pressured to pay for parking, to receiving filthy utensils at breakfast, to being mocked and ignored by reception and management, every aspect of this hotel was deeply disappointing. The Wi-Fi didn’t work at all, housekeeping was negligent or deceitful, and the staff repeatedly failed to respond to serious safety issues. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone, it is unsafe, unprofessional, and utterly disrespectful toward its guests.

Good evening! I come with a not-so-good review for the Arena Mar hotel in Golden Sands for our New Year's stay. I don't know how it is in the summer, but it wasn't okay now. First of all, the hotel is not 4 stars, it deserves 3 stars at most. The food was acceptable, not very much or diverse, but you had something to eat and at least it was fresh. The heat was okay in the rooms. Secondly, New Year's Eve was not what it should be. The hotel has 2 restaurants, and people were divided into two. That wasn't a problem, both restaurants had a DJ/singer. The fun started at 8 pm. When I arrived, the appetizer was already on the table. Then every hour, that is, at 9 pm and 10 pm, they put 2 more dishes. Everything was rushed. The food was not what it should be, you didn't really have anything to eat. The biggest problem was the way the restaurant staff behaved. Starting at midnight they started to take as much as possible from the tables, and by 1 am there was no place left for anyone to get a juice, wine or anything else. Even the juice and coffee dispensers were closed. If you wanted something, you had to buy it. People would go to the juice or water dispenser and the coffee dispenser and the head waitress would tell them it was closed, then turn her back on them. Most of the people who were over 55-60 years old left disappointed because they couldn't even communicate with her. At one point, I went and told her that what was happening was not okay and she offered me water, as if I needed water. I couldn't communicate with her. Either she didn't know English, or she was acting stupid. And I think it was the second option. It was about principle and how they treated their customers. It was not at all right that at 1 am, everything was closed and people were sent to their rooms. Some left, but some of us stayed and had fun until about 3 am, but only because there was a very good DJ/singer in our restaurant and he created an atmosphere. We wanted to show him that we Romanians have fun even if we don't have drinks or food. 😁 At the other restaurant, the fun ended earlier. In the end, I DO NOT recommend this hotel for New Year's Eve or any other celebration. Maybe in the summer they are more ok, although I doubt it. I recently had the misfortune of staying at this hotel, and it was the worst experience I've had in 25 years of traveling. The rooms were dirty, old, and the AC didn't work, leaving us sweating through the night. The swimming pool was filthy, resembling a soup of hair and dirt, and despite our 8-day stay, it was never cleaned. The food was atrocious—cheap, deep-fried, and of the lowest quality. Alcohol and soft drinks tasted like watered-down sugary mixtures.
The beach is far from the hotel, and the path to it is dirty, smelly, and completely dark at night, making it unsafe. The hotel management was arrogant and unhelpful, refusing to address any of our concerns. To top it all off, there's a scam with nearby parking. They charge an outrageous 20 Bulgarian leva per day, claiming it's not affiliated with the hotel, yet a hotel employee directs guests there. The parking is filthy and lacks shade.
Our bed linens weren't changed even once during our stay, and we had to beg for clean towels. The restaurant and pool were overcrowded, with guests having to reserve pool beds as early as 7:30 am.
Overall, this hotel is an absolute disaster, and I would never recommend it to anyone. Avoid at all costs.
